Paris Baguette @1 Utama — Restaurant in Petaling Jaya

As it's first outlet in PJ, I was already familiar with Paris Baguette, as it's all over South Korea, literally on every street corner. Now, it's not like Malaysians are strangers to French-themed pastry and sandwich "boulangerie" as we have had Delifrance in Malaysia since 1990. I would term Paris Baguette more of a Viennoiserie instead. Go Google to find out the difference.

Located in the old wing of 1Utama where Starbucks used to be, it's now facing the new Starbucks outlet. This brightly lit, spacious and meticulously decorated outlet is not quite well patronised, which made me wonder.

The offerings on display include cakes, pastries and sandwiches. There is a bakery towards the far end. The rest of the outlet is dedicated to the dining area. Of course, the smell of fresh baked pastries fill the air even as you walk towards the outlet, and inside the premises.

While I've sampled many of the different offerings in Seoul before, I was curious how different it would be here, and I wasn't disappointed. Their famous croissants and sandwiches made with it were all here, along with other delectable pastries that you would order on an impulse without thinking whether you could finish them or not.

Prices are not quite cheap, but affordable - it's the quality of the product that you're paying for, along with some brand equity of course, but as a whole, the food is fairly good.

The staff are inexperienced, and it shows. The delays in processing payments, inattentiveness don't present a good front.

As I said, it's not quite well patronised, and I can only summise that PJ folk are not quite prepared for the prices and quality for the food, especially in a place like 1Utama where other choices reign supreme. Paris Baguette has became one of my go to places for brunch in 1U.. I’ve been here many times, especially for their coffee and pastries .. they never disappoint!

Hot or Iced Caramel Latte ☕️- my go to go coffee here .. Smooth, not too intense and perfectly blended w a light caramel flavor .. not too sweet .. love it ..

Big breakfast 🍳 - A generous portions and I actually struggled to finish it ! Definitely a satisfying and fulfilling brunch option ..

Hot chocolate 🍫 - Rich, chocolatey and indulgent .. A perfect pair w their flaky croissant ..

Croissant 🥐 - Buttery and flaky .. just perfect !

Dark Choco French Pastry 🥖- my fav sweet pastry here ! Slightly bitter from the dark chocolate but it’s still soo good.. Reminds me of Palmier or is it the same ?

Original Flat Croissant 🥐 - Crunchy and flaky.. Perfect for a snack since it’s light ..

Choco & Cheese Cake - Honestly, a bit of overwhelming for me as I had high expectation.. but it just wasn’t quite to my taste..

Cheese Soft Cake - Not bad! The cheese flavor is mild but the texture is fluffy and light ..

Cream Cheese Pie - Cheesy and buttery.. A good choice!

It was my first time here and is during rainy morning. It’s a corner lot so quite spacious seat in it. Comfortable seat if compare to Korea and Singapore . Food wise, I came around 9:30am but not all food were ready. I had egg mayo avocado croissant sandwich which I think the tartar sauce is too much and overwhelmed. Second, I got the almond cream bread (in the photo) and it was taste so good !! 2 pcs for RM21 promo. And a cup of citrus green tea if not mistaken with the name , taste so refreshing and pair so well with the bread 👍🏼👍🏼 lastly , I hope they can do some improvement on the service. Especially counter service. Please standby extra staff if you see queue. And please give some smile when talking to customer.
