Hello guys, Solarance again and this time I experienced eating at Oppadak with my mom since she’s craving Korean ^^ since this place is new to us, we decided to heck with it and try!
So we ordered 2 dishes with 1 side:
1- I ordered their signature roasted chicken with scallion salad. At first I was like… wait? Is it just scallion or majority is scallion?.. I didn’t know since it’s my first time here so I just went and order it.. and extra large too cuz my mom tot it’s funny to do it 😂. Here is my opinion on the dish, honestly the chicken is good 👍🏻 can’t complain but the scallion salad? Yea i don’t think that’s a good idea cuz onions on baby onions? That’s a bit too much even for me.. I kept eating it cuz I love eating chicken with veggies and that was the only “salad” I get… in the end couldn’t finish it as the onion feeling got up to my nose.. my mom also stopped because she started feeling funny in her tummy… not a good experience with the salad so overall I’d give this dish 3/5. The saving grace of the dish was the chicken… I even ordered a side of kimchi rice because I love kimchi but it also ended with disappointment. It’s salty but I only managed to eat 1/2 of the portion because I need carbs in my diet too.. but I couldn’t finish since it was a tad bit salty for me… this I give 2/5.
2- My mom ordered the rice bowl.. with chicken in it.. she liked it but was hoping for more chicken in it.. she ordered extra kimchi on the side… and surprise surprise.. the kimchi is salty :( just like my kimchi rice… she can’t eat it at all… so that’s RM 5.90 wasted there and the portion is so small for that price. For the rice she gives it 3/5 thanks to the kimchi… but the chicken saved the dish yet again.
Honestly this restaurant has potential since the chicken is good 👍🏻 but you need to ensure not to put so much salt in your kimchi because that’s what people are gonna go for as well since it’s a staple dish in Korean food. Control the salt and maybe not put so much onions as salad for you signature dish.. just a...
Read moreWe decided to visit this restaurant after seeing positive reviews on Google Maps. Upon arriving, the staff welcomed us warmly, and a kind lady asked if we could leave a Google review in exchange for free drinks. We explained that we’d prefer to provide a review after trying the food, as that felt fair.
The service was a bit slow, even though the restaurant wasn’t busy when we arrived. As more customers came in, our food was served at the same time as others who had just ordered, which felt a little disorganized. That said, the cheese platter was excellent, and the chicken was absolutely delicious! However, when we ordered additional kimchi fried rice, it took longer to arrive, and unfortunately, the rice was cold when served—likely because it had been sitting out before being brought to our table.
After we finished eating, the same lady approached us again about leaving a Google review. While we were happy to provide feedback, she stood uncomfortably close as we wrote it. When we gave 4 stars, she insisted we change it to 5 stars to receive the promised free drinks. She explained how important the rating was for the restaurant, but the approach felt pressuring and inappropriate. We calmly explained that our review reflects our genuine experience and that we value honesty over incentives.
While the food was mostly enjoyable, the aggressive push for a 5-star review left a negative impression. For this reason, we’ve rated the restaurant 3 stars. A suggestion to the staff: allow customers to leave honest feedback without pressure. Authentic reviews will take you much further in...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at Oppadak in IOI for the first time, and I must say, it was quite an enjoyable experience! Upon entering, I was greeted by a warm and friendly staff who were more than happy to assist with the ordering process. The use of a QR code to place your order was a nice touch, making everything streamlined and efficient.
Now, let’s talk about the food! I ordered the Original Baked Chicken and the Manuela Garlic Bread Chicken. Both dishes were delicious, but I found myself leaning toward the Garlic Chicken as my favorite. It was incredibly flavorful and had a wonderful blend of seasonings that made each bite memorable. If you’re a garlic lover, this dish is a must-try!
While enjoying my meal, I couldn’t help but notice the number of five-star reviews on Google for this place. It’s worth mentioning that many of these ratings seem to stem from a promotional tactic – offering free drinks in exchange for leaving a review. While that might boost their ratings, it doesn't take away from the quality of food and service I experienced.
Overall, my first visit to Oppadak was fantastic! The combination of friendly service and flavorful dishes makes it a spot I would recommend for anyone looking for a satisfying meal. I’m already looking forward to my next visit to try out more of their menu. Just remember, if you're a fan of garlic, go for the Manuela Garlic Bread Chicken – you won't be...
