I drove up from Singapore for work and stayed here from Sunday to Tuesday.
I must commend the front desk, a Mr Sobrien (I must have butchered his name) was friendly and very pleasant even though I arrived close to midnight, offering help with the bags and all.
The check in was seamless and perfect though a slight bit confusing at first because it looked more like a restaurant counter than a check in, but that's the theme and it's fine.
Room was great, the hotel is really new, and hence also very clean. Sheets were spotless, sitting on the sofa didn't incur any itches, and plugs were aplenty. Lighting seems to be on the dimmer side these days but all still easily controlled from the bed side.
Space was perfect for up to a family of 3, or fit 2 adults comfortably.
Air con however, I prefer the artic type of air con, but I think for environmental reasons, the air con couldn't be controlled lower than 23.5 or it must be my lack of knowhows because there was no way I could get it below 23.5 on cool mode, so which meant that the nights were a bit lukewarm for me.
Shower pressure was fantastic, but the small gap between the glass door and wall meant that the outside area of the toilet would get wet.
The hotel is also connected via basement to IOI mall, which is said to be the biggest mall in Malaysia, and I was there for 2 afternoons and nights and I couldn't finish the whole east to west every floor. It is really a behemoth place and one I think can spend easily two days slowly walking.
I clocked an average of 13-14k steps each day just in the mall, and the lower levels have ton of food selection with some Korean food at the 2nd and 3rd levels.
Other than that, a really nice stay.
I did have some problems upon checking out due to the newer parking system not recognizing my car plate, and rescue took close to 15 minutes being stuck at the exit gantry, so that was a slight dampen on the overall experience but I stress that it's no fault...
Read moreI’ve been to many Marriott group hotels and had never faced a more ridiculous one than this one. Claimed that you have complimentary parking with “unlimited in and out”. But thats not the case
They shared parking with ioi city mall. You first go into ioi city mall parking and then into theirs. So double entry and exit.
I’ve checked for assurance i got no limit on entry and exit. All i did was take my car for ev charging at the mall section and went to lunch during checkout. When exiting, it asked me to pay rm20.
I went to front desk (after reverse, go back to lobby, take lift to the ground floor to talk to receptionist), and they simply ask for my car plate number. Ok, then i left after that thinking its just some system update.
When i reached the exit, it now shows rm25. Perfect. Feeling tired to go back all the way, i called their number. Halfway through, not sure which smart operator that is, she linked my line to a room number causing a confusing guest and myself to speak to each other. I hang up and went back to lobby.
Now the front desk person told me “oh no cos you didnt park with us and went out so you have to pay”. Wonderful. I did park with them prior to go to ev charging. But whatevrt, feeling fed up i left.
Then the phone operator called me back to discuss more of the situation and told me to wait 5 mins. Later she called back saying her manager said i can exit at rm8 if i go back to the front desk
At this point i gave up. I paid the fees at rm25 and left. Will never stay in Moxy ever again. Thanks for ruining your guest experience. It’s not about the money, it’s about wasting 30 minutes of my time trying to exit. This kind of service doesn’t fit the Marriott lineup.
Oh i forgot to mention, they called my room at 8pm waking up my baby to ask “how is everything going with your stay”. Exceptional way to...
Read moreThere's a lot to like about the hotel - plenty of communal spaces to lounge and play, from games at the lobby to the live DJs at the sky bar.
But for a hotel that seems to have everything somewhat downsized a little from their bed down to the towels, the place can get overrun with families and the kids pretty quickly especially on long weekends. With few demanding and rowdy guests added to the mix, it's a pretty chaotic scene with occasional discomfort.
Despite this, the staff have been extremely polite and attentive all around. Sam at the Sky bar and Amer at the front desk have been stellar, and I wish that I had remembered all of their names. While Moxy showcases a more youthful and informal vibe, some guests simply take advantage of this and show disregard of courtesy to either the staff or other guests.
That aside, the food quality here is much, much better compared to Marriott Putrajaya or the Palm Garden located next door. I really enjoyed the lychee kambucha at breakfast. The dedicated parking at P1 is plenty and easy to navigate. The room too is properly insulated, perfect for casting movies onto the TV. There's consistent and strong hot showers. And the ironing room's available at each floor should you need them. Plus a huge gym area with a heavy bag. While i didn't make any AYS requests during this stay, the housekeeping staff on duty delivers the drinking water almost immediately upon request. Perfect!
Bonvoy Elites are well recognised here, with welcome drinks and breakfast offered at check-in. Marriott and IOI finally found a winning formula with Moxy to rejuvenate their offerings in/near Putrajaya. Will be back for sure, when there isn't...
