Original Banana Leaf — Restaurant in Sepang

A frequent goer to IOI City Mall, but today was the 1st time had lunch at this restaurant. Wasn't impressed with the banana leaf set that we ordered. Maybe should with service, staffs are quite friendly & efficient, food served quite fast and while it's hot. As for the food, the banana leaf set comes with 3 veges including fried snake gourd (was good), pickles and papadom. 3 choices of curries, chicken, fish and dhal. All 3 maybe not be up to the mark, quite watery and almost bland (not sure if the majority of the patrons prefer in that's way, as some reviews did given credit for the curry mentioning the consistency of it). Ordered a prawn sambal as side dish, the consistency was very bland and quite obvious that prawns were frozen ones. Well F&B industry is like that, taste is something very2 subjective to comment on. While undergoing routine check-up at Serdang Hospital, I was suddenly overtaken by a perculiar craving. Banana leaf rice came to mind, with all its glorious embelishments. IOI city mall, home of Original Banana Leaf, was but a giant's stone throw away.

With my equally impulsiveness afflicted wife,we headed for IOI city mall. Whiffs of Indian Curry floated in the air. So, before the waiter finished mouthing the name of the main item on the menu, our fingers were stubbornly fixed on the dish... Fish Head Curry.

After a rather short while, the waiter came in proudly hoisting the the ' Art piece' above his shoulders. After wiping the drool from our mouths,we surrendered ourselves to our basic foraging and feeding instincts.

The taste, texture and smell of the Fish Head Curry was very much as we had imagined and more.

What can we say, we are fans...

We were here for a late lunch and the place was not packed. My son ordered the chicken Briyani 69 and Ice milk tea. I ordered the chapati and the tosai rawa and hot tea tarik. Even though the place is called Original Banana leaf, the food are not served on banana leaf. Instead food is served on a green plastic plate. It doesn't really matter. What is more important is that food taste good and price is so affordable. The total amount I paid was RM35.00. The place is nice, clean and comfortable. The staff are friendly and efficient in the delivery of food and drinks. I would definitely check out this outlet again soon.
