Can’t blame them for my naive-ness to trust a businessmen and a ttker, so I’ll give a 2 star rating. 1 star for providing safe dining environment, 1 star for super successful marketing strategy.
Is it worth the price paid? Definitely not for the food and service but yes it’s worthy for the experience and for knowing the trustworthy of your foodie ttker and now you will know which ttker you can start to block them. The one who recently said very loud the cucur udang “not greasy at all” I will definitely block his channel.
Ordered cucur udang, cendol, passion fizzy. Cucur udang was total failure except the kuah kacang was really nice. However, they are not giving you sufficient kuah to finish the dish, it’s just barely enough to the level when you feel you can’t continue eating due to the greasiness. From this can really know that chef wan indeed knows his own dishes very well, he knew customers couldn’t eat anymore so no point giving more kuah, which will be a waste. Cendol was just ordinary, it’s actually nothing to complaint, but when you realize it’s sold at RM18 oh yess definitely it needs some complaints here. The beverage, it’s fresh fruit mixing soda drink, nothing to say.
Services…..hmm….. kind of weird that they told us all seats indoor are taken when there were only 2 table occupied. We sat outdoor just over the glass, had a long sit there due to heavy rain and after more than an hour still nobody inside, but later someone came to put the “reserved” plates on all the table. The waiters…..hmm……pressed the service call button several times but nobody come. Many of them were “busy” walking here and there but they were all sooooo focus in what they doing, they don’t look around at their customers at all. After failed to attract any waiters from my seat for several times I finally get up to walk to the reception (I was just sitting same row with the reception and the 2 tables between us were empty). Oh btw, before I realized chef wan knew we won’t finish the cucur udang so he didn’t want to waste the kuah, I actually went to ask for additional kuah but was told need to pay RM4-5 for it. Priced at RM36 but need additional charge for kuah, and the fact that they didn’t know what’s the actual price, so I told them let it be I don’t want it. But funny enough they suddenly sent the kuah and said it’s free….. anyhow we didn’t finish the kuah nor the cucur udang due to over greasy, just that the way they manage the request exposed their weakness on customer services.
Chef, I’ve been watching your show since childhood and always feeling proud as malaysian having you a recognized and world known chef from malaysia, but you really opened my eyes on how our traditional significant snack can be modified to be “class”, yet I still prefer the simple one and hope you can offer us the option for having the authentic...

I recently had the opportunity to dine at Chef Wan Restaurant located in IOI City Mall, and while the food taste was excellent, there were some areas that need improvement, particularly in the service provided by the serving crews.
Let's start with the positive aspects of the dining experience—the food. The taste of the dishes at Chef Wan Restaurant was truly exceptional. Each dish was bursting with flavors, and it was evident that the chefs put a lot of effort into creating a delightful culinary experience. From the appetizers to the main course, the quality of the food was outstanding, and it truly satisfied my taste buds.
However, the service aspect of the restaurant left much to be desired. One major issue was the lack of attention to detail when it came to providing the necessary cutlery for the table. Despite the food being served, we had to ask multiple times for cutlery, as it was missing from our table. This lack of preparedness was disappointing and disrupted the flow of the dining experience.
Moreover, a big family-sized pizza was served without any available dining plates for individuals. It would have been much more convenient if the restaurant had provided suitable plates for each member of our group. This oversight made it difficult for everyone to enjoy their portion of the pizza comfortably.
Another concern was the lack of kid-friendly cutlery for our 5-year-old toddler who was dining with us. As a family-friendly restaurant, it would be expected that the necessary arrangements would be made to accommodate young diners. Unfortunately, this was not the case, and it made the dining experience more challenging for our little one.
In order to enhance the overall dining experience, it is essential for Chef Wan Restaurant to invest in retraining their serving crews. Proper training will help ensure that all aspects of service, including attention to detail and anticipating customer needs, are met consistently.
Additionally, the restaurant could greatly benefit from improving their tableware inventory. Having sufficient cutlery and dining plates readily available for all guests, regardless of group size or age, is a basic requirement for a dining establishment.
Overall, Chef Wan Restaurant at IOI City Mall has incredible potential due to its excellent food taste. However, to provide a truly exceptional dining experience, the serving crews need retraining and a significant focus on attention to detail. By addressing these areas for improvement, Chef Wan Restaurant can elevate its service to match the outstanding flavors of its dishes, ensuring that customers have a memorable dining experience from...
Read moreSuch a bad experience at this outlet in IOI City Putrajaya. We went there on Sunday Evening, 19 Nov 2023. It started when we were greeted by a lady staff which I believe name is Huda. When we arrived, we were told that there is an empty table inside and when we came in, the table wasn’t fully ready. My mom requested to be seated at another table due to the current place being too bright (she has cataract and can’t be exposed to bright light) which was at the end of the restaurant and were told by the waitress that it wasn’t ready (foods were not cleaned up yet). So I told her fine we can wait inside while they clear up the table. And to my surprise, we were told by the waitress to wait OUTSIDE again for approx 20 mins. Throughout my life, I have never been to a restaurant where the customer already went in and was told TO GO OUT again while waiting for the table to be served. Very unprofessional. So we decided not to wait and continue seating at our initial assigned table. (Fyi, both table were empty)
Next, we started ordering the food. Service was rather slow I would say. We ordered the food at around 4.06pm and food arrived at around 4.30pm. What surprised me was that the food came earlier than the drinks which came about 10 mins after. Foods weren’t serve appropriately as well. We got our main dishes first then only the appetiser came in (what’s the purpose of having an appetiser then ?). We ordered cucur udang, beef rib eye steak and laksa Johor. Cucur udang and laksa Johor tasted average and I do feel it’s a bit overprice considering the taste and quality of the food.
The worst I would say is the Rib Eye Steak. I ordered medium in doneness. The steak was rather DRY, not fresh and feels like it was taken from a freezer and was thrown into the griller. There were no steak juices. The seasoning was way over and VERY SALTY. The sauce was also salty. Jacket potato was undercooked and took some effort to cut in. I definitely did not enjoy my meal at all. For the price of RM 89++ per set, I would say that this is the worse steak I’ve tasted for that price. Definitely need some tweaking in cooking the steak.
The only good thing about the place is the ambience. They have very nice calming and interior design. Apart from that, nothing seems right for me. Im not sure if anyone had the same issue but I guess today is just not my lucky day. Just wasted my bucks here today.
I would not recommend this place unless they improve on their customer service, courtesy in serving guests, and reconsider improving the quality of the food before serving. Hope that you can take this feedback seriously and take appropriate...
