Terrible food, terrible attitude.
Don't let the good reviews fool you. Went for an evening meal at Zaika and ordered daal, butter chicken and chicken tikka masala. We really didn't enjoy our food as the curries did not taste good and the tikka masala was very oily. When the waiter asked us how our food was we said we didn't enjoy the meal as it did not taste very nice, he said nothing in response and walked away.
We asked for a discount as the food tasted terrible and we were offered only 10%. It's such a slap in the face to have to pay almost €55 for a horrible meal. We asked multiple times for the bill and when we finally got it the waiter was rude when asking why we didn't enjoy the meal. I told him the food I had did not taste good and he had no response to this. When we voiced complaint about the naan bread he said it was because it was made on tawa, however this is not stated on the menu. Regardless of how it was made the bread had no flavour and was dry.
One of the members of my group made a review to warn others about this restaurant and the owner clearly cannot handle criticism. He rudely responded and lied that we were rude to his waiter when asked about the food. When asked, we were hesitant to even voice our complaints, but we basically said the food was not good and we didn't enjoy our meal (doesn't sound very rude to me).
To have the owner complain about a discount is ridiculous. Your food was terrible and I would have rather set €55 on fire than have to eat at this restaurant again. He also said that we didn't give a reason as to why we didn't like the food, this is also a lie as we told them it tasted bad but apparently that's not enough of a reason for them. If you see other reviews you will see the responses he thought were acceptable to genuine complaints about this...
Read moreWhere to begin. The food took a long time to arrive and didn’t arrive all as one as the naan breads arrived much later. Although we were provided with complimentary chips to offset the lateness. The food was poor, my party had chicken tikka masala, butter chicken and a daal, alongside rice and naan. The chicken was very oily as was the rice and the daal very watery. The flavours were strong although didn’t taste nice. Furthermore the naan breads were very disappointing, dry and lacking flavour and not worth the 3.99 euro. I felt the portion size for my chicken tikka masala was small for the price, although if they had provided more it would’ve been in vain due to non of us finishing the meal due to us finding it unpalatable. When asked by the waiter how the food was we couldn’t hide our disappointment and confessed we didnt enjoy the meal, flummoxed the waiter walks off without saying another word and seemed to avoid our table the rest of the meal. One of us had to go up to the counter to ask for our bill and request a reduction due to our disappointment resulting in us not finishing our food. We were offered a 10% reduction which I feel should’ve been more but accepted anyway. Whilst given the bill the waiter asked us what we didn’t like so we explained to him. When we mentioned the long wait he said they had only one oven. I have no issue waiting for food but think it would benefit to let customers know before letting them order so they know what to expect. Overall I felt badly for the waiter as it’s never a nice conversation to have on either end but wish it was...
Read moreAvoid at all costs I have never had such bad Indian cuisine. I ordered a butter chicken and rice. This took a while to arrive so in the meantime I visited the restaurant bathroom. They were unhygienic and looked like it needed a good scrub with bleach. The restaurant recognised we had been waiting a long time for our food so they compensated the four of us with chips and ketchup. My Coca Cola was icy cold and refreshing. I was happy about this. When our food arrived it didn’t come out all together. The food was disappointing and did not taste like what I had thought I ordered. I let the waiter know the curry was ‘not great’ to which he just stood shocked and stunned in silence and then left the table. It was the most awkward interaction I’ve ever experienced in a hospitality establishment! All of us expressed how we weren’t happy with the meal. None of us finished our meals as we didn’t like the flavour. The saga continues as we had to ask for the bill multiple times. We were able to get a 10% discount but seems as at least half the food was left I thought this was depressing. After other members of my party have posted reviews, the restaurant has left false and rude messages. They claim we are posting fake reviews. I think this is a very unprofessional way to handle this matter. Please find proof of our meals in the photos which were at...
