Summary: It's an OK place to go and have a quick drink and a bite to eat.
It's a bar, not a restaurant, there is music (tolerable, not very intrusive). If you're looking for a quiet place to share a meal, or take your date for an intimate dinner, this isn't it. There are other places that offer better value (see my other review)
Details Food: very acceptable. Also quite different from a notion of traditional Spanish tapas bar. For the price I was expecting something elaborate and exceptional, the type of tapas you'll find in Paรญs Vasco. See my comments on photos
Atmosphere: acceptable for a bar, nothing breathtaking
Drinks: seems reasonable. I like wine but I am not an expert and I ordered beer - reasonable selection again but bottled only, โฌ4-5 / bottle, nothing on tap.
What did surprise me was that while I found normal price range wines, they also have a list of exquisite, probably rare wines priced at 100's of Euros. So if you are a wine enthusiast, perhaps you should check it out. The atmosphere certainly doesn't correspond to a place where you'd find an โฌ500 wine bottle. But they do have it.
Staff: friendly, attentive. I am not very familiar with local customs but this was a first place during my short stay on Malta where the waiter asked me if I wanted to add a tip
Conclusion: I think the price / (food + atmosphere) ratio is too high. You'll easily find better value elsewhere. An interesting experiment, definitely...
ย ย ย Read moreBooked here after reading some of the better reviews and were slightly disappointed. Made a reservation for 18:00, turned up at 18:00 to the doors slightly ajar and nobody to be seen. One of the chefs went downstairs and a few minutes later, somebody came up to see to the five people that were now waiting outside. We had made a reservation and the woman said that we could sit on one of the two outside tables. Another couple that hadn't made a reservation sat on the other. A few minutes later, we were told we couldn't sit at that table as somebody had made a reservation (as had we..). The couple that didn't' have the reservation volunteered to sit inside so we could continue to sit outside. About 30 minutes into our meal, another couple without a reservation was then offered the table we had originally been moved from, and they were still there when we left? A woman also turned up at 18:15 with a few (clothes) shopping bags, and she turned out to be a waitress. The food was alright. The best thing we ordered was probably the nachos (at โฌ12!) or the albondigas. The sangria, however, was lovely. The service did pick up as the evening went on but we weren't convinced with the food and it definitely wasn't the best tapas we've ever had, but maybe that's a...
ย ย ย Read moream so happy to have been introduced to that Spanish/ South American Restaurant, Amazing food and Tapas to share, The restaurant was filling up quickly (it was almost 8.00 pm on a Sunday night) and we have found a queue when we arrived so luckily we booked a night before , it is a small place with nice crowded ambiance, fantastic for groups or a casual date night. Very attentive and friendly owners and staff. Plus we were informed they will open soon in Spinola Park Carob Tree St Julians wonderful news. One more thing I loved the way they wipe/ clean the tables with a special spray and kitchen paper which is more hygienic and Recycled!!!ย ย Rather than fabric or the same sponge for all tables all day this lead to Bacteria circulation. Thank you La Vida We will definitely visit you again, Strongly recommended especially for those who love Spanish/ Latin American Cuisine and anyone wants to try something different or just fed up of Pasta and Pizza on the the Island.
