El Patron Mexican Bistro — Restaurant in El Tezal

Epic fail. This place looks great, but everything else is something to avoid. I visited the restaurant as a guest, not staying at the hotel it is in; made a reservation 3 days in advance specified to be on the patio one the app (open table). Got there to find that they would not seat us at one of the 11 tables available on the patio at the time, and ended up inside. The service was sub-par - we were clearly an inconvenience. The drinks from the bar were very good - the house margarita was tasty BUT it was $25USD - outrageous! The food was mediocre... At best. My pork enchiladas had a bone the size of the end of my index finger in it... I called over the waiter, said he would speak to the manager... NOTHING... No follow up at all. They asked how we enjoyed our meal at the end and we told them that all 5 of us were quite disappointed. They couldn't have cared less. I go to Cabo every year and will not visit this...

We had dinner at El Patron on a Sunday night and had a fantastic experience. Even though we had a reservation and arrived 10 minutes early, the restaurant was so busy that we had to wait until our reserved time to be seated.

The food, however, was absolutely worth it! I ordered the Blue Corn Empanada and Enchiladas Suizas (both vegetarian), and they were easily among the best Mexican dishes I've ever had—rich in flavor and perfectly prepared. My wife had the Acapulco Style Ceviche and La Diabla Shrimp Molcajete, and she was just as impressed. We ended our meal with the Chichén Itzá Pyramid for dessert, which was excellent.

The service was friendly, though slightly on the slower side due to how packed the restaurant was. That said, the incredible food more than made up for it. If you're staying at the Villa Group hotels, I highly recommend dining here...

This was the most negative experience of our stay at Villa del Arco (which I gave 5 stars). We had our first dinner and first breakfast at the resort here. The food was mediocre both meals. Portions are small and the food is overpriced for what you actually get. Service sucked. Wait staff was not attentive, made lots of mistakes and we were given a hard time at both meals for not having reservations even though the restaurant had lots of empty tables throughout our time dining. Service was extremely slow at breakfast and twice we were brought food intended for other tables. We did not go back and would recommend that you...
