I am writing this as an owner for over 18 yrs. I do not take this lightly and I am not one to typically post a bad review but it needs to be said and ppl need to have a heads up before going to any Villa resort. I am giving it 3 stars because of the customer service from main office and lies from the timeshare presenters. Otherwise it would be higher. While I absolutely love our resorts and most of the staff at the resorts this needs to be posted for others. I seriously have no idea what is going on with our timeshare ownership/management but it is really turning me off. Can't book our time cause they say they are over booked, (this has never happened) . When we upgraded the last time, we were told with the week we own (holiday) that we could book at a minimum 30 days out and quarantined a spot at any one of our resorts if it wasn't our holiday week and what would be considered off time. Apparently this is not the case and we were lied to. Reading through the very fine print, it clearly states "upon availability". My husband and I both asked over and over are you sure, we have never seen written, where is this? and was assured it was in the hand book under holiday week. Another lie!
I have not been able to log into my account since the upgrade last yr, as their system is extremely old and will not blend the accounts together (old and new) and needs to be updated, per customer service ppl I have spoke with. Even after walking through it with someone from the VPA side of things, changing my user name, changing passwords and pretty much starting from stratch, I still am unable to get in. Over a yr now!! We have not received any updates/newsletters or information on price increases and changes. AI is absolutely ridiculous. I know costs have gone up all over, I get that, but when I am unable to recieve the newsletters or log into my accout, I can not be informed of price increases it is quite a sticker shock. They say rates for AI haven't increased since 2023 yet the rate are almost 2x the amount in the booklet which we received just last yr at our Cabo resort. It is also stated that ALL food and drinks are included, but when you get there they tell you, oh no that's not included, oh and neither is that or that. WTH? All means all, not some. The customer service has just been HELL. We can't seem to get a straight answer from anyone, or help with the account. I have asked for a manager to call me and of course the managers won't return calls or if/when they do call, they call during the hrs you have specifically said you were not going to be available. I have always been very diligence on when I am and when I am not available. Why on earth would I ever want to bring anyone to a resort that treats their owners like shit and wants to lie to them over and over. I will not and can not recommend anyone to purchase with the Villa group, at this point!!! 5 yrs ago I would have never said that but today... I’m a flexible person and can adapt to anything and certainly accept responsibility if i am wrong. I travelled to Puerto Vallarta yesterday after booking a promotional trip with the Villa group. I am a United States citizen and resident temporarily living and working in Mexico while on a sabbatical from my position. I still have my Massachusetts identification and maintain a residence in Massachusetts. The sales reps from the villa group knew this information. I arrived to villa del palmar Vallarta yesterday evening. After checking in I had to check in with persons from the hotel about visiting their other hotel. This I knew was part of the promotion although 8pm after traveling all day, in a dimly lit lobby, was not the best time to go over this information. Once I checked into my room. There was a leak in the ceiling and a puddle of water on the floor. I took my belongings and went down to the lobby. They did change my room. Later that evening I needed to purchase Internet because I had to work while on vacation. After purchasing internet service, I discovered the internet did not work in my room. So I returned to the lobby and they refunded the 10 dollars I paid. The next morning (just a few hours ago) I was told by a representative of the Villa group group that I was not eligible for the promotion. This is after paying for the promotion, paying for the resort fee and paying for my airline ticket. She, as well as the other representative from the Villa group, knew my entire situation regarding my residence in the United States. This representative told me that I had to pay $600 additional dollars in order to stay at the Villa Del Palmar Vallarta. I told her I was not going to pay $600 more dollars so I would leave. I told her I wanted a refund for the promotional amount I paid and she said she is not responsible for that. I told her that since she is saying I need to leave that I’d like a refund of my resort fees since I only stayed for1 night (really only 12 hours). She said I could not be refunded my resort fees because I did not let them know 7 days in advance. So here I now am checked into a different hotel with no refund of any kind. So, again I’ve traveled much. I’ve never written a bad review about any hotel or travel experience. But please know the Villa group and it’s employees are scammers. 2 of their sales people knew my situation, sold me a package, had me pay for airline tickets only to tell me this does not apply to me and i needed to pay an additional $600 or leave. Read morePlease read and don't fall trap, I do not write reviews out of hate, it is actually a public service to me. It appears that they only post positive reviews on their site while on Google you can dig up some real victims. I did a trip to Puerto Vallarta and would like to highlight that in no way the country or the people of the resort engaged in any scamming activities, the rest of my trip was beyond exciting and fun packed. I took a whole week to cool off and not write in distaste.
I am deeply disappointed and infuriated by the appalling service provided by Villa Resort Group at Puerto Vallarta. This establishment deserves absolutely no stars. This particular operator or travel agent named Manuel was beyond distasteful in his dealing. Manuel's derogatory and demeaning tone was utterly disgraceful. It seems that according to them, only those who pay with a credit card qualify for a decent vacation, while those who use a debit card are treated as second-class citizens. This attitude is absolutely pathetic.
To make matters worse, they charged an extra $621 for not paying via a credit card. It is outrageous that they penalize customers for their preferred payment method. But that's not all, as I was coerced into attending a meeting that turned out to be nothing more than a chained scam cult event. Many other visitors were also subjected to this, lured with the promise of a free breakfast. If you refuse their offer or decline to attend their presentation, they unleash their vengeance upon you in some form, which in my case was forcing me to pay up.
Their so-called promotional packages are nothing but a sham. I ended up paying a lot more than I initially thought, and the experience was anything but relaxing. However, I refuse to let their disappointments ruin my vacation. I managed to find enjoyment by participating in five activities over the course of four days. I highly recommend Vallarta Adventures for their exceptional services, well-organized trips, thrilling adventures, and warm and knowledgeable tour guides.
In contrast, Villa Group Resorts teams up with scammers and resorts to bullying tactics to force customers into submission. Their behavior is utterly disgraceful and unacceptable. I strongly advise against dealing with this unscrupulous establishment.
