5/5 – Authentic, Flavorful, and Worth Every Bite!

I had the pleasure of visiting Tacos de Humo and it truly exceeded all expectations. From the moment we walked in, the vibrant, welcoming atmosphere set the tone for a great experience. The staff were friendly, knowledgeable, and happy to make recommendations based on our preferences.

We ordered the traditional guacamole that was delicious, and a variety of tacos to share—mixtos, carnitas, fish, Al pastor —and every single one was packed with flavor. The fish tacos were fresh and crisp, with a tangy slaw and a drizzle of creamy sauce that brought everything together. The drinks were delicious too and very large. We got mezcalitas.

Tortillas were clearly homemade, warm and slightly chewy with that perfect hint of char. Salsas ranged from mild and zesty to seriously fiery—and all were delicious. Portions were generous, and prices were more than fair for the quality.

We would have loved to give a positive review but unfortunately this place did not deserve it.

Service: we were nicely welcomed by the owner and staff. Very friendly people!

Atmosphere: the place was empty but it was a nice venue. However, the toilet was very dirty (!) and there were no towels.

Food: disappointing. The vegetarian option was improvised as they didn't have the one from the menu. Just grilled vegetables and cheese (not melted). My tacos were okay (tacos locos) but just that. You'd find better ones on the street.

Price: super expensive! To give you an idea, we paid the same there as our hotel for picanha tacos with cheese. $265 for 3 tacos is too much! Yes, portions are not small but they lack flavour.

The place has potential as the staff was super nice (even gave us free tortilla chips and salsa) but...

We decided to have a late dinner and out of many food options on the main strip we wandered into a smaller street and ended up in this charming, electric, and incredibly suave restaurant!! Food so delicious I went to bed dreaming about it, drinks so smooth you wake up with 0 hangover and glowier skin. The chef, the owner, the bartender were so, so kind and generous, and introduced us to so much local info and photos of whale sharks! We’ll seek this place...
