My first hangover breakfast of our PV vacay was here. We chose it by chance and scored!
ATMOSPHERE: The open-air joint has sidewalk tables in addition to the indoor seats.
MENU: Mexican & American breakfast, salads, sandwiches, soup, pasta, tacos, burgers, coffees, smoothies, malts, ice cream, full bar.
FOOD: House Bread with Salsa & Pico De Gallo What a waste of food as they brought this to every table, which we didn't even touch. Too heavy.
Denver Omelette The omelette sure tasted good with my gurgling stomach. The breakfast potatoes were slightly salty and not as seared as I like. It also came with two hotcakes which were good. What a steal!
Flamenco Eggs My spouse was wanting eggs benedict but mistakenly ordered this. He brought it to our server's attention admitting the mistake, and they removed it from our bill even though we were willing to pay. Thanks!
Eggs Benedict My spouse's correct dish. The hollandaise sauce was orange in color due to the addition of chilis, but he said the English muffin wasn't toasted and got soggy. Pass.
SERVICE: It's seat yourself, and it took a little over 5 minutes for a greeting even though they weren't busy. Another table ended up leaving because of no greeting, and only then did a male server run over to no avail.
Our female server was smiley and friendly, but the male server was stoic but meant well. He was the lucky recipient of our order mistake, and even came over to us to ask why we turned away the flamenco eggs because it's good, and thanked us for the mistake because he got to eat it. Okay...
OVERALL: Stick to the breakfast basics like omelettes, plain old eggs, and...
Read moreStopped in for lunch, I had the tacos with BBQ pork, they were amazing. Perfectly cooked and presented well. The guacamole was super fresh and tasty, as was the pico and chips.
Did breakfast today 8/23 and it was extremely good. Their bread was fresh and warm and the omelette was cooked to perfection.
Update: 1/13/2023 Stopped for lunch, tacos are still the best I've found in Puerto Vallarta. Good prices, good service, and great food... what's not to like?
Update: 1/9/2024 I have been enjoying the breakfasts here for a while. The food is consistently very good, staff extremely friendly... Very much a family atmosphere. This trip, on two occasions, I witnessed the staff treating a less fortunate member of their community with compassion. I deal with social issues for a living and seeing their compassion and willingness to see the man's dignity maintained was heart warming. I'll always eat here at least once a day when in PV, they have earned that much at least.
01/19/2025 Again, excellent food and service. In fact, I eat here everyday while I'm in Puerto Vallarta because of the compassion the staff show to those less fortunate in the community. I again witnessed a staff member helping a homeless man with a small bit of cash. In the past I have witnessed this and I have witnessed them providing a meal to hungry homeless that have no money. The food is excellent, the staff are incredibly compassionate, why wouldn't you want to support this kind...
Read moreFebruary 2023 Since the initial review, a few years back, I'm happy to say that Cafe San Angel continues to be a #1 spot for us. We stay in PV for a couple months every winter and we are here often. The burgers are still the best! Liz always greets with a smile and is efficient with her service. The owner is usually around at night, making sure the restaurant runs smoothly. We will keep coming!
We just spent 2 weeks in PV and ate at Cafe San Angel at least 3 times. They have the BEST burger I have EVER eaten. I'm not really a big burger fan, especially in Mexico, but the Caramel Burger jumped out at me. OMG, a real fiesta in your mouth!! Dishes my companions ate were just as yummy. Love the service, and the atmosphere. Sits on the corner, all open to the outside, like most of the cafes along Olas Atlas. LOVE LOVE LOVE! **One complaint...the t-shirt the server was wearing is not available for sale....They do have one with the logo on the back, but it's a blip about Trump's wall on the front. While I agree with the statement, "Trump's Wall: We'll Get Over It", I can't wear it back home in the states. So...PLEASE bring on the shirts that were available a...
