Shhh...this is our Locals "go to" place. Very good food, service and prices are reasonable considering the oceanfront view. Paula, Marty, Cesar and Armando make a great team. The area is sectioned off so that one is not constantly disturbed by the many, many vendors (understandably trying to make an honest living but still can be disturbing). There are two options for seating: Beachfront or on a raised area, under a palapa with fans. Good wifi. I use The Red Onion as my home base and office. Dogs are welcomed as long as kept on leash. I almost don't want to share our Best Kept Secret but I have too much respect and appreciation for the existence of La Cebolla Roja and the owners are worthy of such well deserved...

There is no thinking outside the box by both the waiters and the cooks of this restaurant. What you see in the menu is all there is and they won’t mix plates regardless if you’re willing to pay extra. Personally, the flavor was bland also.
The restaurant offers wifi but the signal is unstable and sketchy at times. I did get better internet on my flight into PV than at this restaurant.

Read moreStopped in for a bite after surf lessons. Got guacamole, salsa and chips, and a vegetarian pizza. Honestly the food isn’t very good. Guacamole isn’t freshly made, salsa is just mostly tomato chopped up. The flavors are very bland, would not recommend the pizza. All in all very blah food. Right on the beach. The vibe was a bit strange here. Many older ex pats seem to hang out here. Possibly even regulars. A lot of pet dogs running around the restaurant from patrons. All in all would likely recommend to just try another beach bar...
