Title: "A Scrumptious Seafood Experience at The Sea Monkey"
I recently had the pleasure of dining at The Sea Monkey, located on the bustling Malecon, and it was nothing short of a remarkable gastronomic experience. This is not just any restaurant - it's a paradisiacal oasis where you can choose to dine either on the beach, with the waves gently crashing in the background, or inside its immaculately clean interiors.
Right from the entrance, the cleanliness of the place is strikingly evident, setting the tone for a relaxed and comfortable dining experience. The Sea Monkey places a high priority on hygiene, which is evident in every corner of the restaurant, right from the pristine dining area to the spotless restrooms.
The food is the star of the show at The Sea Monkey. I sampled their coconut shrimp and chicken fingers, and I must say they were incredibly fresh and cooked to perfection. The delicate flavors of the coconut paired beautifully with the succulent shrimp, while the chicken fingers were crispy on the outside yet tender and juicy inside. The freshness of the ingredients was palpable in every bite, enhancing the overall taste and making the meal a memorable one.
One of the highlights of The Sea Monkey is their portion sizes. The dishes are generously served, making sure that you leave the restaurant feeling fully satiated. This, coupled with their excellent food quality, provides great value for money.
Speaking of service, I was fortunate to have Jimmy as my waiter. He was the epitome of professionalism, providing exemplary service with a warm smile. Fluent in both English and Spanish, he made the dining experience smooth and comfortable. His politeness and courteous nature added an extra layer of joy to our visit.
In conclusion, The Sea Monkey is a gem that awaits discovery on the Malecon. Whether it's the freshest seafood, the generous portions, the cleanliness, or the exceptional service, this restaurant has it all. I highly recommend The Sea Monkey for anyone looking for a delightful dining experience in an idyllic setting. I can't wait to return and try more of their...
Read moreLast summer, I was in Vallarta for three months. At least once per week, I would visit Sea Monkey. When I returned in December, I again frequented it.
When High Season took off, I went in for a beer and a bite, but not only was there no seating available, I had to approach a group of chattering waiters to be told there was no seating and not to be offered an alternative (inside the restaurant). When I did, they were so dismissive, I didn't go back for five months.
I am now near the end of a six month stay, so I thought I would give it one more try. What a huge error.
I was not only glowered at by the waiters and treated with complete contempt, I was given a menu and then ignored for half an hour.
I am a woman travelling alone. That doesn't mean I'm cheap and it doesn't mean I don't tip. Quite the opposite. A smart wait staff would have noticed me tipping the beach dancers 50 pesos, but these guys ain't that smart.
Nobody who is going to a restaurant or bar should be treated this way. I have money to spend and am known to tip extravagantly. Today, I ordered a beer, paid with a 500 peso note (universally loathed here) and left without tipping. That's not me, but Sea Monkey's staff treated me with such unmitigated contempt that they should not really have even charged for the beer. They should have offered some kind of apology, but not one word of apology was offered. This is the level of the staff's professionalism. They haven't any. They are discourteous to the point of obnoxiousness.
It's Low Season. The tourists are mostly gone and this is Sea Monkey's manner of treating its guests? I don't think so. I would strongly counsel anyone looking to enjoy Puerto Vallarta for the beautiful place it is to avoid Sea Monkey and its apparently woman-hating servers.
If this review seems unduly harsh, it needs to be said that I am a routinely very pleasant person, but the treatment and disrespect modelled toward at Sea Monkey demand correction. Let me be the first to say...
Read moreThe location is on the beach which is pretty. We were trying to relax but the people selling stuff are in your face every 60 sec. And when you tell them no they still won't leave... i understand is not the establishments fault but it ruins the atmosphere. Not a place to go if you want a relaxing drink on the beach. Additionally, the food and drinks are terrible. We ordered 2 piña coladas, one with alcohol and one without and they both tasted like there was nothing in it. Plus it was missing the piña part...you could only taste coconut. We also got the flautas and the oil tasted old. Plus the meat was fried to death inside the flauta. It was terrible. The presentation was pretty but the quality was failing tremendously. Our service was good besides all of this. Our waiter and food runner were great. Not their fault the food was nasty so we still tipped...
