The Blue Shrimp Puerto Vallarta was an experience. It was located right on the beach, and in some cases, we watched the ocean flow under the beach tables. We were glad we had a view of the ocean, not the experience of feeling it creep up on us. Atmosphere is great I have multiple pictures of the decorations. I loved the mermaid, sea animals and shells all over the place. There was even an area boasting "air conditioning" we came to see the beach not be in a sealed room. I am sure some people would prefer the cold air. The food was fine. There was a basket of dinner rolls and some butter that was delivered to the table. It was a roll, not warm but had a heavy feeling after eating. I had popcorn shrimp, and they were very good, but not filling. It was served with a slightly spicy sweet dip, and the second was like a tarter sauce that was more spicy. Both delicious. So I tried everyone else's foods too. I tried a Baked Shrimp Lasagna from the group, it was all right. My brain was very confused with the textures: baby vegetables, marinara, and shrimp in my mouth so I couldn't process it very well. It also seemed to sit heavily my sister's companion also agreed. My niece ordered Linguine Frutti Di Mare (a seafood pasta and left out: octopus, calamari, and muscles). So it was a shrimp linguine with cream sauce. 😋 Surprisingly, it was very good. However, it was not discounted for less sea food. I ate probably a quarter of that dish, it was mostly noodles and sauce. The last item was the biggest item on our ticket: Caribbean Lobster Tail cooked in the house sauce (garlic and butter). The rice was good, as were the vegetables, but I thought the lobster was chewy. My sister ate it, not the best or worst she ever had middle of the road. We did order drinks 🍸 and they were disappointed. They were supposed to be blended and all of them had giant ice chunks in them. We also ended up with 2 alcohol free Strawberry da queries when we wanted the alcohol in them. So there must have been a misunderstanding with the broken translations. When we arrived we all ordered water and of course it was bottled water which added up more than was expected. So, lesson learned: ask how much water is before saying "yes we will all have water to start" being 4 or 5 bottles before drinks 🍸. It was a fine one time experience, I will not be going back next time I am in Puerto Vallarta. It was very expensive for my taste.

As far as locations go it's pretty much prime seating in PV. Beach front with great music and nice touches to the decor throughout the restaurant. As many have said the sunsets are amazing here and it really was! Please note this is a tourist based restaurant, (as 90% of PV restaurants are of course) however this place goes that little bit further, especially price wise. The prices for the margaritas are the most expensive of our 10 day stay and honestly the worst tasting, for 320 pesos you get the theatrics of them pouring the 'patron' style bottled booze in at the end at the table to give the impression your getting more.. It's a bit cheesy but clever... But the flavour is poor, and the strength weak. As for the food, I will say it was all plated very nicely. The fish ceviche was wonderful Mahi Mahi chunks acid cooked in a nice salty lime sauce with grilled corn and red onion, the fish tacos were OK, not flavorful, just OK... but a large portion for an appetizer and if you add hot sauce the flavour comes out. The the shrimp, we got 'up' sold on to the huge blue shrimp that they bring raw to your table, 750pesos for 4 cooked any way you like, we split two dishes cooked 4 ways. Here's the verdict: Coconut shrimp, forget it... Over cooked and no flavour at all. Portuguese style wrapped in bacon... Bacon tasted great... The cheese wizz sauce not so great but the Verde sauce that came with was wonderful, my wife Comme Ted that the cheese sauce was to fake tasting and the bacon dwarfed the flavour of the shrimp. The two butterfly selection I had were the garlic butter... It was ok.. Not enough seasoning other than garlic, and the Arriero style that was very good, however the large shrimp were not deveined fully (as a restaurant owner this bugs me). Over all service was ok always lots of people around, I noticed the servers focus on select tables... Offering free drinks etc while others such as ourselves kind of felt we were 2nd class. We paid the most here on a meal than other places on our 10 day trip it was our last evening, the sunset given freely by the Almighty was the best thing of the evening. Total bill with 15% tip (server wanted 20) $300. It was nice for the experience and the sunset. We wouldn't go back.

I've seen this place on our daily walks and wanted to try it since last year. ATMOSPHERE: Located beach side on the Malecon, it's open air with lanai and indoor seating. There was a salad bar available but didn't see it offered on the menu. The place was fairly empty as we dined an hour before closing. MENU: Soups, shrimp, fish, lobster, steak, Mexican fare. FOOD: New England Clam Chowder Horrible! It's as if they threw clams into a blender with condensed cream of mushroom soup. Yup, that bad. Caesar Salad Nothing to write home about, and over-priced for the portion size. Guacamole One of the evenings highlights. It's made fresh at your table so a home-cooking lesson was learned lol. The guac was good but the chips were stale, either from sitting out but hopefully not because of recycling between guests. We let our server know and she was more than happy to bring fresh ones. Packaged tortillas also accompanied. Jumbo Shrimp Oh, my gout sure loved this one! I opted for the smaller of the two for health's sake, done in garlic shrimp style which is garlic & butter. The 5 shrimp were prepared perfectly and came with steamed rice and veggies. Very nice. Grilled Filet Mignon with Shrimp My spouse's choice. It was just an okay dish. The steak came out rare instead of medium rare, and included 3 jumbo shrimp, steamed veggies and a baked potato. Kahlua & Milk Compliments of the house, in which we both took a sip of but no more. What a waste of booze. They should ask before serving IMO. SERVICE: Hostess service was average. Male server was professional, friendly, and attentive. OVERALL: Pricey compared to other restaurants but you are beach front. After several experiences this year and last with restaurants on the beach, I'd recommend seeking the less crowded joints in town. Here, you get the view, but the cuisine is what matters for us.
