I went to this place close to the Malecon for breakfast it has inside and outside seating on the sidewalk and is also a bookstore art gallery. While i was eating breakfast another older couple with a Pug dog came and sat a table next to me. Then this waiter came out and greeted them and was talking with them like he knew them before. Then he starts petting the Pug and picks the pug up off the sidewalk and starts hugging and petting him. After doing this for awhile he put the dog down and went back to work. Of course I couldn't see if he washed his hands or changed his apron, but I highly doubt he did. Then he probably was serving more people food, Yuk. I was totally grossed out and when I went to pay my bill I told the owner what he did and explained the sidewalk is dirty and that he shouldn't be petting a dog while handling other peoples food. I won't be going back, Gross.
Just so you know, most men don't wash their hands after using a restroom either. I have witnessed this many many times and...
Read morePopped in on a hot afternoon for an iced Americano, which was well brewed and good sized for 58 pesos. It is near the beach area and right across from what appears to be a Gaudi inspired citizen-contributed public park with lots of mosaic seating. Quite a few homeless in the park but they don’t impact the experience at the cafe.
The cafe is an art / reading cafe, which you don’t often find in touristy areas. This reminds of artsy cafes in Geneva and Ho Chi Minh City, or anime-themed cafes in Japan. This means it’s ok to sit and read a while as long as you don’t disturb people.
On the day I was there, the staff was wiping the books and glancing at the text when possible, in between quick breaks. Who does that anymore? It shows they care and have respect for the books rather than just some marketing ploy. Respect!
The ceiling fans and Latino music were just awesome and much needed. They too off the...
Read moreI really hate to do this because we've loved this place, but today clinched it. We've been coming here for years. The service has never been swift, but the coffee was good and food reasonable. We have been here 2 weeks and A Page In The Sun has become an endurance marathon. You waIt at least 10 minutes or more for a wait person to approach. You order coffee and continue to wait and wait and wait. Sometimes your coffee drink sits on the counter so long it's tepid on arrival. Then you waIt and waIt and wait to find someone to being the check. Our fellow customers were feeling the pain as well. We are quite accustomed to "Mexico Time" and actually welcome it. This is NOT that. I'm not sure what it is but they need to fix it. Waitstaff used to be friendly. Sadly now few are. I believe we will be...
