What a great place Mel’s Casa Social is!
Before we visited Ajijic, we had done quite a bit of research and Mel’s came up on FB many times - always with some fun activity, some wonderful music, or an impromptu party atmosphere.
We visited Friday afternoon and were welcomed like regulars. Bianka, our bartender, was so friendly and attentive, we couldn’t have asked for anyone sweeter.
Mel was busy greeting guests, making all feel like friends she’d invited into her backyard oasis. (By the way, Mel is a lovely young woman; not at all the older man I was expecting!🤪
The property has many activities - pickle ball court, a pool, ping pong, pool, giant jenga, etc. If you’re looking for something to do, this is your place!
We lucked out showing up on Friday, and we’re treated to some fantastic live Blues and Jazz. Do yourself a favour and try to visit when there’s music.
It’s Happy Hour all the time at Mel’s. We enjoyed some great pub snacks with our beverages and it was very affordable.
Thank you to Mel and Bianka for making us feel at home on our second day in Ajijic. We enjoyed ourselves so much we went back the next day! (And, we’ll be back when we...
Read moreMel's Sunday brunch is amazing. For 165 pesos per person, you get a gigantic buffet loaded with a rotating selection of fresh dishes prepared by a French chef. Best Eggs Benedict I have ever had. There are vegan and gluten free offerings. The bountiful dessert table features selections made by his wife and an overflowing bowl of the best fruit the markets had available in the previous day or two. While chili, guacamole, and soups are available from morning till afternoon, a parade of lunch/dinner dishes starts at noon. The owners are wonderful, friendly people who are welcoming you into their home for a leisurely meal. We will not hesitate to go back. Lunch any day but Sunday includes a free beer and there are card games...
Read moreThis was a fun spot. We rented the pickleball court for 2 hours and had a blast. We didn't travel with our one rackets/balls so we used theirs. They were in really poor condition, but good enough to play and have some fun for a couple of hours. We got some dinner in between games. The food was okay, nothing special and same for the happy hour margarita. The place was virtually empty when we were there but I can imagine this would be a really fun place when it's full. We didn't swim but the pool looked really nice. It's cash only so make sure you bring enough! Their menu prices are equivalent to something you'd...
