Butcher & Sons serves up the best burgers and chili dogs in CDMX plus they have surprisingly good vegetarian options! Since this place offers casual American comfort food it appeals to tourists and locals for various reasons. Visiting from the U.S. I took comfort in being able to order something not only familiar, but also a cuisine that evokes nostalgic memories of eating with my grandmother. I would also recommend this Roma Norte restaurant to local adventurous foodies as well as those who simply want to switch things up with a break from tacos. My wife and I dined here on a Sunday evening and it wasn't crowded so although they offer reservations it might not be necessary depending on the day of the week. The hostess seated us quickly, the dining room was very clean and has a welcoming Earthy vibe, the patio has some good people watching, the server was very patient with us while ordering and translating. When the food came out everything was SHOCKINGLY good! We had a ceasar salad, parmesan truffle fries, a chili dog, and a patty melt. Prior to the foods arrival the server left an array of sauces on the table and I really thought it was a nice touch so we could enjoy our food once it arrived without needing to track down a server to adjust the seasoning and sauces to our specific preferences. The portions were large so we both happily had leftovers. This isn't a fast food joint so be aware that each item is a la carte. This experience will cost you a bit more than other restaurants in the area, but if you appreciate top notch ingredients and flavorful comfort food, you'll gladly foot the bill. I'm starting to get hungry just writing this review so I definitely won't come to town without...
Read moreWe went in around 7:40. We were seated inside and waited about 20 minutes before finally realizing that no one was planning on taking our drink or food order. We were seated right in the middle between two other families and the waiters were going to their tables but blatantly ignoring us. We were hungry but realized it was better to leave if we were going to continue to be ignored. The host and the waiters a big part of the time were talking to each other and it was slow. When we walked out I told the host that several waiters had walked by us and never took order. Her response- OK. It should have been I’m sorry or let us take your order right now. No. Just an “OK”. I’m not sure how this establishment has the 4.4 on Google when their establishment has such terrible customer service on a slow day. -0/10 would...
Read moreReally good burgers and fries. They make their own catsup/salsa with 3 different flavors: catsup, curry, and picante. Catsup is a little watery, curry tastes exactly as it’s named, and picante wasn’t too spicy. It was more Smokey peppery flavored. Seating is available both inside and outside. Only trouble with outside is all the peddlers walking by who stop and try to get you to buy something. We had the corn chowder that had pieces of bacon and Gouda cheese. We ordered the burger of the month “rib eye burger” and the smashed wagyu burger. The Rib eye burger is larger than the average sized burger and came out with a fried egg on top. Smashed wagyu burger came out with 2 Pattie’s. It was very tender and cooked to perfection. The French fries had a nice seasoning on them and...
