I want to return here everyday. The chef/owner is on site cooking his own menu to order, so it is prepared perfectly. The batter for the fried fish and shrimp is so light and dry like the best tempura, evenly bronzed, which takes lots of skill and prep to drop everything at the right frying temperatures and keep the batter fresh and cold and retrieve at just the right time — the inside was so flaky, some of the best fried fish I’ve had! In addition, see how clear and clean the caldo broth is, so rich and flavorful, they are not cheap with the ingredients or preparation.

The sauces are delicious too, particularly the habanero, all made in house with the same attention. One of our favorite places we ate. If you appreciate the labor and craft behind simple food done well, you will understand everything here though appearing simple is done perfectly with lots of thoughtfulness. Many restaurants can not claim the same. We ate at Contramar just before as it was so highly rec’d and that was the biggest waste of money, such a shame it has gotten so sloppy. El Turuleto is the place other chefs will want to eat.

Lastly the staff are so friendly, we got many other recs from them for our travels. They eat out together frequently and are very knowledgeable about the industry here. Muchas gracias we will be back for the freshest seafood...

We were visiting Mexico City for a week trying numerous highly recommended restaurants (Contramar, Salazar, etc.) and tacos (Las Paisas, Orinoco, etc.), and at the end of the trip, the one place we agreed was the most memorable was El Turuleto. The galan taco (creamy shrimp with beans) is one of the best tacos I've ever had in my life. The smokiness of the cream, the tenderness of the shrimp, the light crispiness of the tortilla -- everything about this taco was perfection. We also loved the taco vallarta (pan-fried octopus) -- it went so well with some lime juice and their addictive orange smoky cream sauce. We tried both the raw and fried tuna guacamoles and both were absolutely phenomenal. After discovering this place towards the end of our trip, we made it a point to come back the very next day because I just HAD to have the galan taco one last time before our flight back home to San Francisco. The owner is awesome -- super friendly and approachable. I love this restaurant so much and will be dreaming about it until I make my way back to Mexico City when I can experience this incredible...

Review: 5/5 – A Hidden Gem for Fish Taco Lovers

If you’re looking for the ultimate fried fish taco experience, look no further. These tacos were exactly what I was craving — light, crispy, perfectly golden fish with fresh toppings that brought everything together in every bite. The flavors were balanced, and the tortillas had just the right amount of bite.

What made it even better? The service. From the moment I walked in, the host was warm and attentive, and the owner was incredibly welcoming and passionate about the food. You can tell there’s real care behind every plate.

Took a chance on a new beer — Carta Blanca, recommended by the owner — and it was the perfect pairing: crisp, refreshing, and smooth.

This place hit the spot in every way. Can’t wait...
