Genova Restaurante Cafe — Restaurant in Mexico City

First off our waiter Edgar was amazing he was very kind and professional today serving us, he really went out his way to help out. Like every human we make mistakes he made a minor mistake no big deal on 1 of the orders and I felt that the manager penalized him for it.

I’m giving this place 2 stars cause of the manager, she came to bring me the credit card terminal and she was nice enough to reduce the item that was charged ( wrong order no big deal ) but when it came down to the tip % for edger “ she pressed the button for me without me authorizing it, she hit 10% of tip and said to me “ just give him 10% this guy messes up all the time always a problem “ with an attitude tone. Meanwhile I was still reaching over to the terminal to figure out the amount of the percentages it was a small terminal I couldn’t see cause she was holding on to it I was upset cause she should not press the amount of tip I want to give a waiter even if they mest up, I decide to walk over to Edgar and hand him over cash for the rest of the tip I wanted to give him. I felt that was very unprofessional and I saw that Edgar got in trouble for “ jelly on pancakes” like I said happens all the time in every restaurant not a big deal. I hope Edgar was not penalized for something very unnecessary ! Edgar you’re great at your job !!!

The menu saids they have hash browns and when you order it, they come back and tell you no, the menu you is very misleading.

I came here tonight and when they charged my card at the end of my meal, they kept showing me their system declined the charge. They tried to charge my card several times after that and it kept saying declined. I checked my mobile banking app and it showed I had been charged for my meal 4 times. The staff insisted that I pay in cash after I showed them I had already been charged for my meal 4 times. Other patrons at the restaurant spoke up and said the same thing happened to them. The staff knowingly was running people's cards over and over again after they were getting declined and charged, then finally demanding cash from everyone. Ended up paying for my meal 5 times and wasted 20 minutes of my time going back and forth with them. Horrible experience, avoid this place...

Great place to relax and people watch from here! After walking on La Reforma, cafe Genova was heaven sent since we needed a break and their Oaxacan chocolate con hot leche was exactly what I needed: lightly sweet, frothy, and the smooth chocolate taste was delicious. The flat white was huge and very milky! The service was excellent! It comes with free chip and bread....
