There are so many places that are way better than this establishment in this neighborhood - please don't waste your money here. It will be expensive, slow and disappointing.
When my sister and I went to this place in June, we were looking forward to it because the reviews were good. From the moment we walked in though, we were already being treated weird. The place had plenty of seating available, and we were seated at a far corner at an isolated table to which I remember telling my sister I was nervous we were going to be forgotten. We proceeded to put our order in, and only managed to receive one cocktail and one jug of water the whole evening (this ended up being $25 US DOLLARS, by the way). I'll break it down to this: we put our food order in several times, with THREE different servers because our initial server was totally ignoring us. Every time we put in our order, it was like the order was never punched in by anyone. After more than an hour of waiting, we finally gave up and asked them to cancel the order (which probably didn't even exist in their system still, because the server responded with "wait, tell me what you want and I will have them make it right now"). I said absolutely not, and then I asked him for the check so we could just pay and get out of there.
I'm not kidding, we had to ask three times for the check and each time the server would rush off like "Yes! Of course, right away!" and then disappear and we would see them doing something totally different as if we had never asked for anything at all. Well eventually I got tired of waiting for the check and I got up to leave since no one was taking us seriously and clearly they didn't even want our money, and then sure enough right away the manager comes over with a check on the spot. The check turned out to be $25 US dollars (!) which is actually insane for a cocktail and a water in Mexico City, and I'm not even sure this charge was right, but on top of that and perhaps the worst part of this whole experience - the manager, who generated the check, didn't even apologize or acknowledge the whole ordeal, and had the audacity to ask HOW MUCH we wanted to tip...
My sister and I were in total disbelief. My sister, with a heart of gold, still tipped this very undeserving restaurant and I wish she hadn't, but both of us have worked in the service industry and know it can be tough. But man, this place really didn't gaf about how they were treating us and really didn't deserve more money from us.
Mexico City has an amazing reputation when it comes to food service, so it was extra shocking that this place was so terrible and arrogant about it.
Shortly after leaving, we went to another place where we were able to get two full meals, with drinks, for the same price we paid for the one cocktail at GinGin... It's crazy. Please take a few extra minutes to look elsewhere as there are so many cool spots to eat...
Read moreWent here with my family for after dinner drinks. Totally understand that there is a language barrier as I don't speak Spanish well. I pointed to the name of the drink I wanted on the menu. My phone screen was zoomed in enough that it was the only drink name on the screen. I ordered the Cinnarine.
When the drinks were eventually brought out (seemed to take a while) they gave me a bloody gin/bloody mary. I called attention to it and the waiter left, came back and tried to say I was mistaken. Not sure how someone could mistakenly order a bloody gin/bloody mary. Or confuse it for any other drink on the menu. The server did not make my drink a priority to the bartenders and the rest of my party had almost finished their drinks before mine was brought out. The server didn't want to take back the incorrect drink and we had to insist on it. He then tried to ignore us and didn't seem interested in giving us the bill when asked. When the bill finally did come they had still charged for the bloody gin I didn't order or drink. The server tried to blame me saying I had given the wrong order despite the fact that I had pointed to my drink on the menu. Finally the manager got involved. Instead of printing a new, correct bill he just deducted the price of the bloody gin from the bill which meant we still paid tax on the drink.
Overall awful experience that could have been made right at so many points if the server had put a little effort in! Telling the bartenders that correcting my drink was a priority, not ignoring the table because he had made a mistake, not billing for the drink I never ordered, not saying it was my fault, and not doubling down on the mistake. All of this would have resolved the issue entirely and I would...
Read moreGreat place, unfortunately we can't say the same about the service, we went to celebrate with some friends the birthday of one of them on Tuesday, everything was going very well but unfortunately when collecting the bill we were robbed at first because we were drunk and we didn't pay much attention to it to all the consumption but it was a total abuse we have made a compilation of everything we drank and it is incredible the abuse that the waiter Gustavo made, who was the one who attended us that night he believes that because we are foreigners they can steal from us at will, What we least expect from a place is the honesty of the people who serve us and what he did is a robbery ... since we had left him 15% in the tip and the abuse and he put 30% and that is not the worst it is that in the account there are endless drinks that were not delivered... and then I charge a bottle and in that account they put 15% in total... it is incredible that in such good places there are those types of people who come from another country to meet er and take...
