We were really looking forward to have breakfast here, as the menu and atmosphere seemed quite promising. Unfortunately, our experience fell short of expectations.
We ordered two drinks — Atole de maíz and Tascalate — along with Huevos en salsa de chile seco and picaditas. However, we waited over an hour and a half for our food to arrive, and when it finally did, it was cold.
The flavors were underwhelming, and to our surprise, the service felt dismissive and unaccommodating throughout. While delays can happen, the lack of courtesy made the wait even more frustrating.
Sadly, what began as a promising visit turned into a disappointing experience. I hope this feedback helps improve the service, but based on this visit, I wouldn’t recommend it especially considering the price. I wouldn’t recommend it if you’re hoping for a warm, flavorful meal or a welcoming start...
Read moreCame here Sunday noon, there's live music which adds to the vibes & charm. Pretty popular place it seems.
Ordered: Costillitas de cerdo Well seasoned, it came with handmade tortillas and seared cheese. Great flavor, good texture, tortillas is ok, not the best
Chiltotonik Lovely chicken stuffed pepper sandwich, very spicy but SO good
Atole yauitl & chocolate 'cha" both taste good, grainy texture may not be for everyone
Tamales Ayotyl & Piques Ayotyl was fine - banana leaf wrapped tamales with dried shrimp and pumpkin
Piques was not good - corn husked tamale was was dry like a baguette. Had two bites, did not finish.
Both tamales were dry, don't get the tamales here. It's upsetting that tamales on the street back in NYC were better than theirs. Other items were decent.
The price for food leans a little more expensive than I would pay for the...
Read moreWe wanted to try some tamales while in Mexico City so we stopped by here after reading some of the raving reviews.
I ordered the chapulines tamales, pork tamales, and a cacao atole. The chapulines tamale was incredibly tasty, but unfortunately, the pork tamale was very underwhelming. This was a little saddening because the description sounded really good lol.
It was my first time trying atole, and I found the flavour to be pretty interesting. I could see myself enjoying this more as a hot stand-alone beverage rather than an accompaniment to a hot meal though.
I wouldn't say that the food I had here were too exciting for my personal taste, but still I definitely would recommend the chapuline tamale!
The atmosphere was also quite nice even though the service felt a little cold but this was an issue with language more than...
