I went to Madre Roof to celebrate new year and I have to say I was extremely disappointed by the following reasons:
It's a shame that this restaurant has lowered their standards so massively for such an important event, I went to have breakfast maybe 5 years ago and the experience was different.
Unreasonably priced (3500 mxn per person) for what you get. For a bit more (add drinks maybe +1500 in Blanco Colima) and we could have had a much better experience in other restaurants.
Recommendation for all other visitors, look around other places before visiting this one, you'll...
Read moreIt took me a while to write review about Madre Roof bc I was very very disappointed… but at the same time I feel like I have to mention about the issues of this restaurant. I think the overall there was a lot of hype about Madre Roof and I think the restaurant staff are only nice to the locals but not to the American visitors like us, poor service. When we arrived at the restaurant (on August 26th) downstairs the garden level for our reservation, the receptionist behaved like the restaurant was completely booked so not only she made us to wait 15 mins but also telling the walk-in customers that there was minimum 90 mins to 2hrs wait. To complete surprise, when my husband and I went up the rooftop restaurant, the half of the restaurant was empty. There were many available tables throughout the night but they gave us a table in the hallway/pathway (when I asked if they could move us so back of my chair won’t be constantly hit by people or wait staffs), the waitstaff told us all the tables were booked (seriously, did they think i was born yesterday ??? All the “reserved” tables were available until we left). The music was blasting like a night club we had to give up having conversations. Was this a night club or restaurant? My husband was very annoyed at my choice of the restaurant he just wanted to eat and leave asap. The only good thing about this restaurant was food which was decent but the cocktails were way too sweet. Next time when we visit our beloved Mexico City, we will never go back...
Read moreDecent food. Horrible customer service. Staff appears to all be very junior and untrained. There are at least 5 or 6 waiters hovering around. One waiter takes the order and notes any special requests, another one brings the drinks, another the appetizer, another the bill. In my case, I have an allergy to cheese and ensured the waiter who took the order was aware - I wrote the request clearly and she noted the request on her pad. My meal came with potatoes au gratin - brought my waiter number 3. I pointed out the issue, he scraped the potatoes off my plate and went away. I expected - minimally - that they’d bring me a substitute. None came. I mentioned my issue to a senior member of staff (Omar F) who just nodded and went away. My bill came, I stupidly paid and tipped a generous 20%. On the way out, I complained about the service - again to Omar F - who just shrugged and said sorry.
Don’t’ waste your money here. There are better places on the...
