This place used to be our favorite spot in Mexico City for great music, excellent drinks and delicious food. Not anymore. Recently something changed. Tables are crammed next to each other you’re literally touching shoulders with the person sitting on the table next to you. What used to be three tables across from the stage where you sat comfortable and had some privacy now replaced with 6 tables. Lack of privacy and lack of comfort. This caused the place to be much more crowded hence more loud even when the band is playing. That also made the place understaffed and service is taking forever. Last night it took a waiter 15 min to come check on us and another 30 min to bring our drinks. The same applies to the kitchen people because the food is now remarkably slow to bring and lacking flavor and is cold. Baby rack was our favorite and it used to come in one juicy tender piece. The bones used to fall of so easy, full of flavor and served hot. Yesterday this was cut into pieces, obviously not baby rack but stale ribs with very little meat on them, almost cold and felt like eating leftovers. Drinks also became a bit watered down. In general the place deteriorated significantly in the last 2-3 months in every aspect. Sadly we’re not returning. I hope the management take notes and bring back the good days of...
Read moreIt’s a nice place and cool concept. However, my experience was quite disappointing: slow service, long wait, music with room for improvement.
We had our reservation at 8 and were told we first need to take place at the main bar. After 30 min they told us just a few more minutes and asked us to pay before moving in as they have separate bills. However, finally it took 1hour until they brought us in for the 200$ fee. I would have loved some more drinks if they would be more transparent. Inside they wanted to give us the worst table and after complaining we got a better one. Also, others were let in earlier w/o reservation (why bothering doing a reservation then)? Food was okay and drinks good but once empty it took long to order new ones and some more until we got them.
We went there for a jazz night but the music has plenty room for improvement. I love Jazz which made it even more disappointing. So my recommendation would be to chose carefully the fig you go for.
So, I let you decide but to me it feels like unnecessary to not be able to enter right away and just another way of making more money. I definitely would pay entrance fee if the music were any good but the jazz band had so much to do with real Jazz as Mexico City with...
Read moreThis review is for the front cafe/bar, not for the jazz club (which I did not see). The ambience and decor is nice. It has a mid-century modern meets Parisian cafe vibe that is a little different from the usual cocktail bar aesthetic. There was a live music duo playing for free (not to be confused with the ticketed shows in the other section). My primary complaint is that the cocktails are not very good. Despite a long list of signature and classic cocktails, I struggled to find ones that I didn't think would lean too sweet. Out of 4 we ordered, 2 were only OK, and 1 we had to send back because it was aggressively too sweet and unbalanced. Also, stop it with QR-code only menus! This cocktail menu here is long and unwieldy, and scrolling through something that long on a phone is annoying. Moreover, if you're trying to create the vibe of a classy, stylish place (not to mention mid-century modern, jazz, etc.), requiring patrons to use their phones completely undermines...
