Sugar and salt — Restaurant in Mexico City

It is unfortunate that individuals of non-white backgrounds may encounter challenges in receiving satisfactory service. The classicism of this establishment is evident. During our visit, we intended to purchase pan and coffee. While the coffee was not to our liking, the pan was exceptionally well-prepared. Upon requesting the WiFi password, the waiter informed us that she would bring it to us, but she never did. Instead, she remained in the coffee bar area, engaging in conversations with the barista or simply staring into space. Consequently, we received no attention from the server. We were compelled to rise and request silverware and napkins. After ordering our coffee, the waiter took the menus without consulting us about any additional orders. The wait time for our coffees was excessively long. We noticed that a couple of customers entered the establishment after our departure, approximately 15 minutes had passed, and they were promptly served and received their coffees before us. The waiter appeared visibly irritated throughout our interaction. When it was time to pay, she inquired if we would leave a tip, to which we declined. As we were leaving, she unexpectedly shoved my mother. Given that my mother is an elderly woman and that my wife and I were visibly upset about the service, she chose to conceal this incident until later that day to avoid a potential confrontation. Había comido un par de veces en este lugar y nunca tuve inconveniente. La última vez que fui, solo tenía la intención de comprar pan y/o un café. Al solicitarlo, dos niñas pequeñas que me acompañaban pasaron al baño (yo les indiqué donde estaba, pues ya conocía el lugar)

Sin embargo, la mujer que me atendió en el mostrador, me dijo que para hacer uso del baño tenía que realizar un consumo mínimo de $160. Yo me sorprendí mucho y le respondí que en visitas anteriores no me habían comentado eso. Además le dije que sería bueno tener visible dicha información a la vista. Ante esto, la mujer del mostrador, argumentó que esa información ya la conocen todos los clientes, que era obvia y que si vas a cualquier restaurante así es. Su actitud fue muy grosera, déspota y discriminatoria. Además, los demás meseros no hicieron nada ante esta situación.

No pienso volver a comer en un lugar en el que no hay vocación de servicio al cliente y donde tienen actitudes discriminatorias.

Pésimo servicio.

Qué pena que califique como mentira la experiencia de quien ya había sido clienta de este lugar, solo porque no quiere aceptar el despotismo e incongruencia que una empleada tuvo hacia mi. I can't say enough wonderful things about this place. The pastry selection and quality is AMAZING. Our favorite was the ocho. The breakfast omelets, lattes, and fresh squeezed orange juice were great as well. The staff were extremely friendly and patient with helping us understand the menu, since we do not speak spanish.
