WF Riviera Maya — Restaurant in Playa del Carmen

Food was good for a wing joint in Mexico. Problem was the service which was atrocious.

My girlfriend and i each ordered our food then came drinks. I asked for a draft beer which the waitress asked big or medium. I asked how big was the big and she said "really big" with a smile and i then said i'd take a medium. We even laughed about it together and she went on her way.

Couple of lemonades came in 5-6 min no beer. Food came after about 20 min, my girlfriend's was right, mine was completely wrong. Waitress took it back and after about 10 min came back out with the corrected food. Still no beer so asked her for that. She returns with a GIANT beer and asked her "this is the medium? Wouldn't even believe what the big looked like!".

Finished our food without the waitress checking on us once and asked for the bill. Bill comes, she charged for a XXL beer. Explained to her that we had several interactions where i said i wanted a medium not a large. "Yes but you have a large in front of you" she said. "But it's not what i wanted!".

Exhausted after a long day and didn't have the energy to fight with her about it. Paid and won't go back. Unfortunately, there seems to always be a scam and this place is...

I never got to eat. It took 20 minutes to get a premade daquiri. At 40 minutes they bought out my food, but it was the wrong item. After waiting for another 15 minutes, still no food. I had to leave at that point as I was already starving. Very unfortunate.

Update: My partner insisted on us going back to this place the next day for Superbowl although I was against it. However, it was a completely different experience (even with a packed house). I actually got to eat this time! The food was pretty amazing!! Wings crispy and juicy and blue cheese full of herbs and so yummy. Not a fan of blue cheese, but their ranch tastes like it's straight out of the store...and not the good kind. However, I'm officially a blue cheese fan now thanks to them. Staff was attentive and friendly...even the same two gentleman that I had encountered on my first visit were on top of their game. Ugh, service a bit slow on a busy weekend until the other staff came in to help the poor sole that was working the whole dining room and patio. He was host, waiter and bartender as the place filled up to watch NFL playoffs. Ordered the wings and it took a while. Mainly thinking it was over cooked and fried crispy, still edible, but not enjoyable. The celery sticks on the side looked past its prime, some pieces dry and others watery . It's just wings though. Saw a burger go out on the next table that looked very good and thought I would order one but then with more people coming in I thought maybe not, it might stress the cook out. So my chicken wings were my appetizer as I plot out another restaurant to go to. Just look at those celery sticks in the picture. Do they look old? It shouldn't be served.
