Xibak, cannot wait to go back! My new favorite place in Tulum, the place I will go back and back again. This place is five star fancy with casual prices! The drinks are standard a bit higher but worth it the way they are loaded with flare. I ordered the “out of space” and “Ms. puff”. You’ll see in the photos how they were presented. Worth it!!!
But the food flare and affordable prices are what’s even more unbelievable! Xibak had me at Bone Marrow served with steak and monchego rind tacos, do they know these are my favorite things!? 3 real maiza tortillas that are made thick and capture the delicious juices and don’t break while you’re eating them with their flame fired Picanha (rump steak) sautéd and melted manchego rind cheese! Plus they serve you 3 homemade sauces, complimentary tortilla chips and a saucy bean dip.
Want to know something else? It’s not a pretentious high end place where you feel like you don’t belong walking in alone, dressed in a casual shorts romper. I was kindly greeted and treated like a queen by Sergio! He made me feel comfortable and always checked on me in the right timing. Thank you for the best recommendations and service Sergio! I cannot wait...
Read moreIt's a bit odd because I came here strictly on the reviews other people left and felt like I got nowhere near the same experience. Quite frankly, it's a shame because I really wanted to give this place a solid try.
The food was fine, the rib eye cracklings were the best part of our meal in my opinion. I had the spaghetti bolognese and my gf had the picanha in beer, which she rated a 6/10. Mine was comparatively a little worse at a 5/10, and it was just not fulfilling.
I think the biggest thing to me about that night is that everything took so LONG. We waited what felt like 25 minutes just for the appetizer. The drinks themselves took about 20 minutes as well, and they were not complicated drinks. I got a gold tint and she had a mango margarita. It was like they only had one server and one bartender, which made it take even longer when you realize that every ticket was seemingly prepared one at a time instead of as a line of cooks.
The place looks nice, but if that's the service, I don't see a reason why anyone should...
Read moreJust left this place. What did I like? I liked the interior, the dish was very tasty, and the small menu selection actually made it easier to decide on food since there wasn’t an overwhelming variety. The location is great, and the tables and utensils are beautifully designed.
What didn’t I like? There are some gaps in the service. First, the attitude of the staff felt slightly condescending. Second, among the three staff members I interacted with, almost none spoke English—two didn’t speak it at all, and only one understood me to some extent. However, when I asked for a custom drink, I had to use a translator, even though I was asking for something very simple: to make it a little spicier and less sweet. They didn’t understand me.
Overall, the restaurant is good, but there are definitely areas that need improvement to enhance the service, especially for a restaurant with such prices...
