I came here because I was told they had vegan eggs (not easy to find in Mexico/Central America) I was VERY happy to have the eggs. I thought my omelette was very good. The potato portions were small though, and the server CHARGED ME when I asked for ketchup. Definitely not a fan of the up-charging…. The reason for less than five stars starts with my drink order. I wanted a Bloody Mary. They have it on their menu. The have a “shot” of Bloody Mary which is made with tomato juice, and then they have a full sized Bloody Mary drink which is made with Clamato juice. I explained to the server that I am vegan, and cannot have the Clamato. I expressed that I still wanted the full size drink, but to swap the Clamato for Tomato. It was like I was making the biggest, most confusing request. The server was so confused by what I wanted (and it wasn’t due to a language barrier; my husband is Latino and was speaking in Spanish…) that he had to call another server over to clarify. Then they were both confused! They were like, “well, you can get the shot with the tomato juice… or would you like the drink without the Clamato and we can just put salsas?” I was like, “no…. I want a Bloody Mary DRINK, but with TOMATO JUICE instead of Clamato.” The server went inside to talk to someone, and then came back even more confused than before. All jokes aside, I was getting so frustrated by the conversation that I almost got up and left… Finally, I went in and talked to the bartender myself. The bartender had no problem swapping the juice. It was almost comical how easy the conversation was with him compared to my conversation with the servers. Unfortunately, I didn’t taste any vodka in the drink, and I had to order the second Bloody Mary with some spice (the first one had zero spice to it). Either way, I was glad we got that squared away. My husband ordered the vegan cochinita pibil soya, but he was disappointed. He said there was no seasoning on the soya. The total bill was about 900 pesos (two meals, two bloody marys, kombucha, virgin pina colada smoothie, and.. ketchup *insert eye roll*) NOTE ADDED AFTER REVIEW WAS PUBLISHED: the owner replied to my review, so I’d like to clarify. I never said it was expensive... I am simply giving a breakdown of the cost, so readers can know what we paid. The only cost that I complained of was the ketchup 🤷🏼‍♀️

I found this place in google maps and they have a lot of options for gluten free if you are celiac or have an allergy. The waiter was very knowledgeable when he asked me if it was a preference or it was an allergy (to gluten). Which I like. At so many places they don’t really train their staff about cross contamination and this is a plus :) I ordered the gluten free avocado toast. It was good, it had poached eggs, avocado, and feta cheese I believe. Just keep in Mind that if you order for GF it’s 50 MXN extra for the bread, and the size is smaller in comparison to a regular gluten bread :(. But that’s normal and common for gf bread. We also ordered the pancakes to share. They were very good. They came with 3, with side of syrup and dulce de leche, also ordered an Americano and it tasted very good. I liked the touch of the warm milk for my coffee. Usually they give it cold in other places and the drinks turn cold faster. My bf ordered the chilaquiles, I believe they originally come with cauliflower chips but they accommodated to serve with regular corn chips. So far very good if you have food restrictions, allergies. I believe the owner was there and he was walking around greeting and asking if everything was okey. Love the service. It’s always hard to find gf food or restaurants that are accommodating or have knowledge about it, so this is a must in Tulum.

We pretty much ate here every day for a week! Mostly for breakfast, and once for a late lunch. I was so excited to find a healthy, keto-focused restaurant in Tulum with GF options for me and vegetarian options for my partner. And the food is so creative and tasty! The presentation of the food is also delightful. Very friendly service, and the staff speaks English. Some menu highlights: -tropical sun parfait -omelette benedictine -healthy eggs benedictine -side of keto bread -keto red kiss pancakes -breakfast wrap -choco keto cake -chicken ginger bowl (swapped quinoa/rice with veggies) They are flexible with substitutions, which is really nice, and not the case with many restaurants in Tulum. The restaurant has AC. It’s not that strong but it does provide a bit of relief from the 90 degree June weather. The decor is eclectic and fun. Some things on the menu that we wouldn’t order again: -smoothies were too watery -veggie pizza was undercooked and soggy with a weird flavor A couple things on the menu that were just ok: -regular (non-keto) pancakes -bagel with strawberry jam and cream cheese -fitalicious omelette There’s a case up front with various pastries and cakes (some keto, some GF, some regular) that you can get for dine in or to go.

Edit #3: I use Google Translate like every tourist here, but apparently I am a racist monster for that? Cool. I’m changing to 5 stars cos I just want you to stop with this temper tantrum full of insults and threats, and just simply provide your staff with the correct training for how to make matcha. And maybe consider anger management counseling… because, yikes 👀👀 just take a deep breath and let it go. You have 5 stars now, so you don’t need to invent a crazy evil narrative about me to explain away a 1 star review. This is not worth giving yourself a stroke over. Please just find some peace 💚

EDIT: Changing it from 2 stars to 1 because of the owners lies! Wow! I am stunned. I would LOVE the owner to post the video of my interaction with the staff because it was very respectful all around. The staff was very kind, we shared some smiles, and I felt apologetic that they couldn't make it unclumpy. When I explained to a waiter that I just came from Japan and could offer to show how, he enthusiastically told me "yes", it was just unfortunate they didn't have a whisk. The only thing I can think of is that the owner is very confused and has mixed me up with someone different. Instead of spending your energy making up lies, how about you look up a 5min video about how to properly make matcha?

Original Review: Please do proper research on matcha and provide the staff with correct training and equipment for them to make it. 2 stars for the kind service and refund, -3 for putting something on the menu and then never researching the correct way to fix it. There is too much free instructions everywhere on the internet for this to be an issue. Matcha is beautiful drink and making it correctly is an art, please give it the respect you would give to correctly fixing cocktails, coffee, and espresso. Learn the correct way or...

We went to have dinner there (a group of 8) and unfortunately the food was not the best , we ordered meat and the taste was horrible the texture worse, you could tell that it was on the fridge cooked from before and just warmed up before serving, honestly it felt like eating a sponge. (The ony one bite i took) ( 3 of us ordered the steak and had same problem) We talked to the waiter to tell him about the situation and he was super friendly and professional we were super calm no complaining or being rude just informing them about the taste of the food and expecting to pay and go eat to a different place , and then the owner came out and was sooo rude!! Like we were lying when we had the evidence right there “the disgusting meat” We showed him the meat and we told him to try it himself obviously he didn’t, and then he left us talking by ourselves and walked away yelling “agggh if you want 50%off i will give you 50% off” we didn’t even eat it and he acted like we did it on purpose to get a discount! A discount for something we didn’t ate🤷‍♂️ It is super sad that a business owner react like that and that the waiter was way more educated, nicer, and respectful! Definitely not a great example of leadership, and no wonder why all the bad reviews on this place are about same thing , definitely i would stay away from this place If i could give them minus 5 stars i would. I understand sometimes people have a bad day but if you own a business like this you should separate things, and be more mindful and...
