A very good location. Nice staff. Some baristas are very friendly. 😁
Many people seem to have some negative views on the "multinational corporations" like Starbucks, but this is one of the best places for people like me who travel and work. In fact, I haven't found a better place in Tulum after two weeks of searching. You can work here for a couple of hours, and even longer. And, nobody bothers you. That is..., except the thieves. 😤
I'm writing this review to warn other tourists coming here. There is an UNUSUALLY high concentration of thieve and robbers in this town. I had THREE encounters with thieves and robbers in my first TWO weeks here. One time, I was attacked by 3 robbers in front of the (closeby) Chedraui IN BROAD DAYLIGHT. The rest two, they happened at this Starbucks. Unfortunately, this is a spot where professional thieves hang out. 😢
On my VERY FIRST DAY here, my laptop was stolen. I wanted to get the word out as much as possible so that other people could avoid similar incidents. There were positive and negative responses. Some people "came out" and they shared their experiences, as in "metoo". The negative people insisted that i should just leave quietly. Tulum was no different than any other "tourist town". From my personal experience, however, Tulum is not like just any other place. Thieves and robbers "commute" to this town. 🤔
I am writing this to warn other "tourists" coming to this town. These thieves and robbers primarily target tourists, and there is no real incentive for these "local people" (including expats from other countries, including the U.S. as well as the local police) to address this issue. Tourists keep coming despite this rampant crime issues. I can only presume that 99 out of 100 victims of crimes in this town just leave without filing a police report or saying much, or doing anything about it.
Despite all this "digital nomad" hype, Tulum is not an ideal place for people who really travel and work. Also, watch out for these people who are extremely territorial in this town. So, anyways, 🤪 if you are reading this, YOU ARE ON YOUR OWN. Especially here in Tulum. Just watch out, and be mindful. Especially at this Starbucks. 😢 This seems to be one of the places which attract...
Read moreS L O W and TERRIBLE!! we got there 6:55 in the morning. There was about 3 people ordering. THATS IT. We ordered a croissant with cheese and pan ah chocolate. 7:20, 25 min after I still hadn’t my food. I asked, she said “the ovens take time to heat up”.
She then took the croissant out and it was without cheese! And she didn’t give me the pan au chocolate (mistake 1). Then she started making the croissant, and I saw she put ham on it. (Mistake 2). She then started preparing another one, and I told her I’d want it cool, because I couldn’t care to wait another 20 min. She gave me the croissant, I look in the bag, NO pan au chocolate. (Mistake 3) I questioned her and she implied it was “my fault”, because I wasn’t clear. It’s not my job to take and do the orders. I was so tired of waiting I just took the things cold and went away. There were 4 Employees and 4 guests for a whole Starbucks. It was the worst experience in a Starbucks I ever...
Read moreMany things to work in here. Giving two stars only because the people working here does their best. Place is always dirty, gotta clean my own table every time and only when I find one available. They need more staff, two ladies running all the show with the place full, most of time drive thru is closed, furniture on the terrace is already broken and tables move a lot. Total different story from the Starbucks in Playa del Carmen or anywhere else, especially this place being the only Starbucks in Tulum. Please give some love...
