🎄 Christmas Reflection at Selina Hostel 🎄 It felt right to write this on Christmas, a day for union and gratitude. It is my gift to you, Selina. I'm finally able to give something back from everything I have received. Thank you. 🙏 Selina has played a crucial part in my personal development. Two years ago, at the Selina Beachfront, my path was illuminated with the best sunrise. ☀️ The beauty of the world surrounded me, with palm trees exuding life and beauty. It was a day when I felt something special.

Life brought me back to Tulum by chance. I hadn't planned it. I was heading to Ecuador with my dog Pachon. 🐕 But destiny led me elsewhere. I stayed with a friend for a few days, and then another friend offered her place, but she stopped responding. I felt homeless. Eventually, I found refuge on a friend's restaurant rooftop for a couple of days. But I had to move, and with nowhere else to go, I booked two nights at Selina Downtown. 🚪 To my surprise, it was pet-friendly but only for private rooms, which I didn't know. I assumed that by selecting the pet-friendly filter, I'd get a suitable room. So, when I arrived late and they were having a staff posada, it didn't go smoothly. Emmanuel at the front desk informed me of this. I had all my belongings and my truffles were melting. 🍫 I remained patient, hoping things would work out. After the party, Martina, perhaps a regional manager, showed me compassion and offered a private room for the price of the shared dormitory I had booked.

This experience reminded me that kindness is inherent in humans. 🤗 It wasn't anyone's fault. I didn't know about the pet policy, yet I received kindness and love. I was so grateful that I didn't mind the cold water; the warmth of their action meant more. ❤️ The next day, I searched for a pet-friendly place to stay in a dormitory but found none within my budget. I felt doomed. However, when I went to the hotel to collect my belongings, I met another kind soul who offered to care for Pachon in her private room, allowing me to stay longer. 🐾 Selina became more than just a place to stay; it became a place of sharing and caring, where we supported each other like brothers. 👫

I could share many teachings from my time at Selina, but it would take hours. One specific memory stands out from a Mia Beach Club Party, Selina's beachfront club. Access was free depending on the event if you arrived before 9, which was amazing. I spent the entire night on the beachfront after the party. During the sunrise, I had a moment of divine introspection, envisioning a new dawn for humanity. 🌅 Suddenly, I met a kind woman who told me her story. She was at Selina as a volunteer yoga teacher, with no money due to a recent fraud in her bank account. She was staying at Selina so another soul could enjoy the sun. ☀️ Her name, Espiritu Santo, was a pleasant surprise. Selina is a place like no other, a mystical vortex of mutual nourishment, a constant dance of beauty from the Great Mother. 🌀🌍

Days passed, and I became friends with all the staff. They were always understanding of my situation with Pachon. Early each day, I had to find a place for him to be. 🐾 They were incredibly kind, always willing to help, and filled with genuine joy. ❤️ Volunteers and staff alike operated as one, united in spirit. 🤝 While there may be areas for improvement, like any place, if you come to Selina, you're in for an extraordinary journey. 🌟 It's more than a hostel; it's a path of discovery, connections, and unexpected kindness. Every moment here is filled with the potential for something magical to occur. 🌌 Whether it's a sunrise that shifts your perspective or an encounter that touches your soul, Selina sets the stage for transformative experiences.

I really enjoyed the 3 nights that I stayed in the beginning of October. So I came back again and planned to stay one night, but stayed 4. And as long as the price is so great, I'll come back many times more! The location is excellent and the building is gorgeous with murals, plants, tasteful seating areas and art installations. The bed in the dorm is very comfortable and we have two balconies with lots of natural light. It's nice to have a kitchen with lots of space. I also appreciate going to the beach location, the yoga classes and how the staff is very nice. There is a cat and the fluffiest puppy that live there and they make it feel like a home. The other guests were amazing to talk to as well. Totally recommend Selina Downtown. ... In the dorm there is something wrong with the shower - water doesn't drain properly and the water was never hot. I did send a message about it to the staff and they always responded promptly and checked on things but the problem wasn't resolved. That can get fixed easily I think. For me what is lacking is attention to the communal spaces - and when these things are up and running the hotel will be 5 stars for sure! Some areas to improve: What I really want is for the yoga room in the wellness space to be cleaned properly so that it can be used. I still did my dance and yoga practices in the space but it was really dirty still. The ground pool could be cleaned of styrofoam and debris floating around. They can update the kitchen cooking materials. Some nonstick plans with lids would be great! And the lights in the library don't turn on, so it's too dark to read most...

Seriously such a wonderful time at this hotel and such a great experience. I have stayed at a few Selina's before, they are definitely my preferred hotel chain. I do not understand how this place is this affordable, but please don't change the prices haha The staff working at this hotel made us feel so cared for and welcome. The front staff asked us if we were celebrating anything and gave us a note and gift when we checked in. They have a bag area if you arrive early, and would like to go to the other location near the beach. Yes, the beach at Selina's is a MUST. They do have mopeds and bikes to rent, they are also next to a local bus area and there are taxi drivers they will even help you get. and guess what...there is fantastic gelato right next door (dairy free options). Close to shopping, a local supermarket and other restaurants are a max of 5 min drive away but why would you leave when they have multiple pools, a rooftop bar and a restaurant that you get a discount at. The breakfast is so so so good. Get the scrambled eggs with ham and tomatoes and you wont regret it. We got the suite with the personal pool and patio. The room was HUGE even had a mini kitchenette with burner and pots/pans/wine opener. It was so so so nice, totally worth the upgrade price, only thing I would ask is more water pressure but not their fault and we found this is common. YOU HAVE TO STAY HERE, I...
