I had an absolutely lovely 4 day, 3 night stay at Calea Tulum. It is a new, peaceful hotel in Aldea Zama (opened on December) that is at the level with comfort.
A few things that were excellent: The room was big. The beds - mattress and pillow - were very comfortable. I think all were very comfortable memory foam. No construction noise in the mornings (some previous reviews mentioned there was, they must have been done). Wifi strong and reliable. I worked remotely during my stay and had zero problems with video calls. The staff and receptions were so friendly. Just absolutely lovely. The blond receptionist spoke English really well and was very friendly and helpful. Overall the hotel was quiet and peaceful, exactly what I needed.
There were a couple things that could be improved but they were minor: I rented a bike from the hotel for 150 MXN per day and took it to the beach (the hotel works with an outdoor company got bike rentals). The bike’s chain fell off while I was biking at the beach and I had to walk 1.5 hours back. Not ideal. The bikes were not well maintained and I don’t think the hotel should be renting them out. But thankfully the hotel didn’t charge me for the rental. The blond receptionist was lovely and helped take care of it. The elevator didn’t work while I was there. So the receptionist carried my bag to my room on 2nd floor, when checking out, I carried it down. Not a big deal at all. During my stay there were some really loud people who moved into the room next to mine and disturbed my peace. They were overall just low brow and inconsiderate, played music loudly during the day and were loud in the early morning (slamming doors, talking loudly, etc). Not the hotel’s fault but the walls are thin and carry all the sound.
But overall an excellent experience at a great nightly price. I’d...
Read moreAbsolutely wonderful and very hospitable. The staff very welcoming and the location was very convenient. Spas, multiple restaurants, a 7-Eleven, a yoga studio were all very close and within walking distance. Our room was upgraded to the 2 story apartment. Refrigerator, hot plate, pots and pans, 3 air conditioning units (one in each bedroom and one in the living room), 3 balconies, and comfortable bedding. There was construction taking place which started at 8am during our week long stay, but we managed. The only things it didn’t provide were washcloths, an iron, blow dryers, hot tub, and they clean your room every 3 days which for the great affordable price, we were totally fine with. We enjoyed our stay and look forward to visiting again. Thank You...
Read moreWe got superb service from Camila, the young lady in charge of the Hotel, she has an excellent attitude, a high spirit of service.
The Hotel needs a banner to identify it, the one on top of the door can not be seen from the car, so we got lost even when we were closeby. The Hotel Name should be visible, on top of the building or out in the street.
If it had breakfast included, it...
