I wanted to try this place because I like the name and other reviews seem to be good. There are a lot of construction going on in the area so itās very noisy, but everyone sits outside because thereās no AC inside and itās hot and humid. I went inside and saw a big āKombuchaā sign. I wanted to order one. I tried to get on their WiFi so I could scan the QR code to see the menu. The waiter pointed to the table when I asked about WiFi password. After so many failed attempts I had to bother him again, he told me the password written on the table was missing a number. I finally opened the menu up but there was no kombucha on there. I asked the same guy and he told me āno we donāt have itā with such an attitude and not even bothering to look up. I pointed to the big āKombuchaā sign and he replied again saying exactly the same thing, but with disdain this time. My mom said: āwow this guy is really rude!ā So we left of course. This review is biased, based my negative experience with the vibe and service here, I cannot comment on the food since I did not end up ordering...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe were excited to finally try this place, but either it was a really, really off day or itās all hype.
The service was poor - we were not greeted for almost 10 minutes after arriving and seating ourselves. The portions are tiny. The flavours were underwhelming (and we ordered their āgreatest hitsā). The people who work there are not friendly.
Our total check for breakfast for 2 people, each ordering 1 egg dish and 1 beverage was 700 MXN. We were stunned.
Hopefully with more competition now in Aldea Zama Pitted Date will either step up their game or at least enhance the value of their dishes. I could have easily cooked what we ordered at home for a fraction of the price. We only went because it was my birthday and we wanted to start the day special but it began on a sour note due to this less-than-ideal experience.
Even if youāre vegan, give this place a skip. Plenty of other spots have fantastic vegan options that are delicious, a great value and still worthy of...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreOut of all the breakfast-/burnch-/lunch spots in this area The Pitted Date is by far the best & tastiest. We ordered the French Toast and were surprised by their enormity and fluffiness. The flavor and texture were so good and the nuts add a delicious crunch. Tell your non-vegan friend not to fret, these meals are so well balanced in flavor that you wonāt be missing anything. A big table placed their order before us so we had to wait a bit, but the 2 people working there are super hard workers and the food was so delicious it was more than worth the wait. Sure thereās construction work but thatās everywhere in this area and sure itās hot and humid, but weāre in Tulum! We found this gem the day before we were set to leave and returned on our last day as well because it was...
