rip off, tourist trap! stay away! I almost never write reviews but this placed deserves to become infamous so others wont be fooled. First they got us to get the fresh catch from this morning saying it is great yet gave us a tiny fish fillet portion that looked like a supermarket fish stick not fillet and it was so salty trying to hide the fact it must have been a very old left over about to turn bad. All of our different portions were very small and very simple. That must have been the worst fish i have ever had the "pleasure" to endure. Furthermore the waiter at the end of the meal gave us the bill and said the total we need to pay is higher because "in Mexico you pay 10-20% tip"!! meaning everyone has to pay tip as part of the final bill!?! After i told him we are not paying any tip for such a bad meal he tried to convince me it is mandatory. as i argued with him that I'm not going to tip for a bad fish claimed to be fresh i also mentioned it is illegal to say to customers they need tip and he should not do that to other innocent tourists in the future who are unaware. He acted like he doesn't understand english. He then backed down and asked where I'm from to deviate.. at that point he started to laugh saying our nationality never tips, always complains and in mexico food is different. i was shocked such bad customer service, i said maybe there is a reason why so many people complain here, if you try to sell old seafood and lie about having to tip. he didn't care. The only decent thing was the margarita though it was expensive, STAY away! many places around not too far that are much better...
Read moreGreat service, super friendly staff and like other reviews, large size, strong margaritas! The food was recommended but overall my gf and I left a little disappointed. I ordered tacos de Conchinitas (Mayan pulled pork tacos) because I had heard this was the place to come for it, I was served rolled taquitos on a plate with a puddle of water, it really made me think they were frozen and then thawed. Tasted bland. We also order octopus which was supposed to be fresh in a red sauce as the server recommended it that way. It wasn’t good. Octopus was tough and stringy, not fresh, perhaps pre-prepared. Great spot (bring bug spray, for some reason there seemed to be mosquitos on the front patio) and really friendly service, however what we ordered wasn’t good. Hopefully other dishes are done better or it was an off night, though I kinda think it’s hard to make tacos bad in Mexico like these as we’ve had great ones all over at local spots and always walked away satisfied. I definitely recommend Casa Denis for a margarita stop on the...

Long story short: NO CHEF, liars, food and service are mediocre.
Story: Arrived for lunch at 2:20PM and was told the chef had not arrived yet, to come back in 30mins. Went back at 2:58PM and was told 5more mins. We got started on drinks and an appetizer. As we waited for our drinks/appetizer, another family comes by and they too are told 30mins. Are you kidding me?! At this point, I wish we would have gotten up and left for being liars. Once our “guac” and drink came out, it was clear that we made a mistake. We ended up paying for mashed avocados instead of “guacamole.” As it had 0 condiments, not a single grain of salt, pepper, nonetheless, lime, cilantro, tomato, or onions. The limeade was tasteless to say the least. And as if the lies/service/experience wasn’t terrible already, the waiter still had the audacity to ask for a tip as he handed back our change.
Ridículos, son una vergüenza para mi...
