El Mariachi Cantina — Restaurant in San Miguel de Cozumel

This was definitely a winner for us when we spent the day in town while vacationing in Cozumel. We worked up an appetite while checking out the local shopping center and other shops along the strip, and we are so, happy we stumbled upon this gem. Everyone was super friendly and welcoming. For those of our party that did not speak Spanish, the staff were very kind, patient and very well-spoken with their English and we were able to secure some very delicious and authentic Mexican cuisine for all adults and children. The portions are the perfect size; your hunger is satisfied but you aren't left feeling like you're too full to get up and walk around some more. All ingredients were fresh and the service was quick and very impressive. We come to Cozumel most years for a couple of weeks at a time. Havent been for a short while so was interested to see one of our favourite places had changed names but still looked and felt as we remembered. Stopped in for usual lunch as we used to do most days. Food was good, service was slow but the real gotcha was being fleeced when paying. Menu is in dollars but when you pay they distract you with chatter and convert to Mexican using their own exchange rate which is very much in their favour. So we were completely stiffed for what should have been a quick bite of lunch for 4 people costing well over £150 when the bill arrived on our credit card.. No we won't be back for you to do the same again. Plenty of other more honest places...

I was recently at El Mariachi in Cozumel, and it was fantastic. The food was exceptional, with fresh seafood and creative dishes that were both delicious and beautifully presented. The drinks were equally impressive, especially the signature margarita.
