This is a snack bar on a corner at the waterfront. The views are great especially before 2 PM, when the outdoor seating areas are shaded. Food is reasonably good and prices are what you would expect for a bar at the waterfront.
However waiters have a habit of "accidentally adding" extra drinks or other items to the menu, inflating your check.
This has happened to me more than once and I have pointed it out. Unfortunately for the waiting staff, I remember every single time this happens and I bring it up to them. Waiters by the name of Felix and Tomas run this racket and the last time this occurred, they looked pale as the owner, Tim was in plain sight (although on his way out) and they were obviously terrified I would point this issue to him.
After I pointed out the error, they tried to stall me and not give me a check. However, I had plenty of time and waited until they gave me a corrected check and brought my change. I did tip them and didn'tescalate the issue. However, as I mentioned earlier, this is no tthe first time this "accident" occurs and no waiter apologized for it. So double check the items list on your bill.
Overall, this is a nice bar in a great location. The acoustics are terrible, because the bar has recently expanded and the music bounces everywhere in the empty space, leaving you lots of tables were conversation is not possible. Outisde tables are great, but musicians have a habit of stopping by and playing just a few centimeters from the tables, which is sometimes enjoyable, but that is not always the case.
I would definitly recommend visiting this place, but also keep an eye on your check, there may be a few extra items "accidentally...
Read moreIt was a beautiful day next to the ocean. We sat outside to the right of the window. We tried a peach and a mango flavored fresh fruit frozen margaritas. The peach margarita was light closer to an Icee, very fresh and delicious; my favorite of the two. The Mango margarita was a lot thicker, and my partners choice to drink, I would only recommend a bigger straw for it as it does get hard to pull when drinking from time to time. The drinks are served in a margarita glass, standing on a plate. Since it is stacked so high, you are also given a spoon to eat the sides. If you forget about the margarita, though, it will end up on the plate, which helps not to make a mess. We also had their ceviche platter and habanero hot sauce all fresh ingredients. From the location next to the ocean with a clear view of the water and nice breeze with open windows to the food and drinks. It seems the owners really wanted a fresh experience with real food that is healthy and delicious. A live musician played outside and for guests at their table. Te...
Read moreI had the absolute pleasure of being served by Ivan at Thirsty Cougar during my visit to Cozumel, and he truly made the experience unforgettable. From the moment we arrived, Ivan’s warm smile and upbeat energy set the tone for a fantastic time.
He was incredibly attentive, ensuring our drinks were always full and our food was perfect. Ivan’s knowledge of the menu was impressive—he gave spot-on recommendations for both drinks and dishes, and he clearly takes pride in making sure every guest enjoys their visit.
What stood out the most was Ivan’s genuine friendliness and enthusiasm. He made us feel like old friends rather than just customers, creating a relaxed and welcoming vibe that you don’t always find. Whether it was a quick joke, a friendly chat, or his ability to handle a busy crowd with ease, Ivan went above and beyond.
If you’re at Thirsty Cougar, ask for Ivan—you won’t regret it. His exceptional service and great attitude truly elevated our visit. Five stars...
