El Coffee Cozumel — Restaurant in San Miguel de Cozumel

This was always our go to place in Cozumel for breakfast and coffee. The food was always fresh, and still is. The coffee is good and presented beautifully. The service however, has declined dramatically. We noticed the same staff employed as in the years before, but we were practically ignored. Had to get up and ask for coffee, breakfast items etc….and still they had forgotten. This really saddens us so we had to find another coffee place( and we did and it’s TERRIFIC!!). I'm surprised by the great reviews but most locales in this area have inflated tourist reviews. The coffee was fine but the pastries (chocolate cake and apple pie) were mediocre, at best. The chocolate cake was dry and excessively sweet. The service was just bad. I had to go to the counter to order since no one ever came to our table and the person behind the counter literally looked away the entire time I spoke w them, looking annoyed when I tried to confirm that they heard me and were able to help me. The food at El Café has been good. The desserts are also very tasty.

Unfortunately each and every time I have come the service is not great. Sometimes worse than others. In future I will get something to go. Today, my food was served room temperature and the rest of the table was not served at all.

I waited as long as I could and then went ahead and ate my meal. My dishes were cleared away and my husband had not been served. This has happened twice before. The meals came in one at a time and the waitress and staff seem to be very blasé about improving...
