We came to Delek Tulum located in the hotel Zone as part of our honaeymoon and we were exited because this is our second time around in tulum.
Our stay wasn't cheap compared to other hotels in mexico(playa del Carmen) and was at cost of 400 USD per night and total 800 USD. Still comparing to playa de Carmen or cancun - this was expected to be amazing.
As it turns out, Tulum has changed greatly to a money making mechine which is the opposite of value for money.
Our welcoming wasn't really nice and i would expect a better English speaking personal in the reception and to be more welcoming.
Later on and because our room was delayed by 40 minutes a really nice guy gave us free welcoming drinks and guacamole.
It was definitely nice to have a welcoming wine in our room and thank you Delek for that.
The room was small having almost no where to put our luggage, the queen bed is not really comfortable as we woke up with backaches but this is really personal, you might think different of it. Also purified water was provided to brush teeth in a small tank. The balcony is more welcoming and holds to places to hang out, including a loveseat and a hammock, really nice to spend some time there.
In the morning they give complementary coffee and cookies served to the balcony. Something that botherd me is that wine bottle, the glasses and the morning coffee wasn't taken from the balcony for a long time.(the wine and glasses - more than a day)
The shower and bathroom are "modern" wood design but besides the "natural" look the rusti pipes and showerheads are not too great combined with inconsistent hot water flow and genreal weak stream. Hand held shower douch wasn't in the shower.
All this would have been agreeable if the water was fresh water, but they were salt water - some will like it, we didn't.
The restaurant is good and the food is tasty but be prepared for your pockets to be draind as it is much much more expensive then normal.
We really expected Tulum (hotels zone) to be calm but the main road is packed with construction sites and trucks, giving you the feeling that outside the hotel you're walking on a highway.
The hotel provides a vibe of sustainability but to go outside and smell (and hear)the generators is quite ironic.
All in all - maybe my experience wasn't good because i compared it to other places in Mexico, but having known Tulum before it feels like a big show and not something that is really worth paying premium for.
This leaves this review with 3 stars Pros: balcony, nice view, Cons : salt water shower, small room space, doesn't feel value for money, cleaning
Edit : the hotel reply is more than respectful and i thank you for that. If i missed the the notice about the water , its my mistake and i advice all to read carefully all confirmation e-mails.
Indeed the written communication via email and whatsapp was good, but we had some difficulties face to face. Thank you for relaying with great deal of...
Read moreMid-September 2022, 5-night stay: Located in the heart of the party area of the Hotel Zone, but still immersed in the jungle. On their site, it warns about noise at night and that they have no control over it. I am glad that we stayed from Monday-Saturday so on the weeknights, the music stopped by 11pm-1am. On Friday night, I don't think the music stopped until 5am-6am. Bring good earplugs. They also provide your own bluetooth speaker in the room so you can drown out the music. But because of the central location, we were only across the street from two of our favorite restaurants during our trip (including those in Downtown)- Macario and La Taqueria- Pinches Taco Shop (I would not recommend the hotel's restaurant).
Beachside and in the jungle- beautiful, boutique hotel. We just happened to go during bad seaweed days so we did not get to enjoy the beach. The rooms are SO aesthetically pleasing- gives you those Tulum jungle, nature vibes. Daily housekeeping. Housekeeping was good about refilling our water tanks so we never had to request a refill or buy our own. My only complaint about the room is that the AC unit needs upgrading. I let my boyfriend sleep on the side closer to the AC, so maybe we should have switched places each night. But even with the fan right above our bed, and the other fan in the room, it was hard for me to get good sleep because I felt that the AC did not keep up with the heat/humidity enough. Whenever we were actually in the room during our trip (besides for sleep), we would just stand under the AC, but did not get the relief we were hoping.
Communication with front desk with 10/10 via WhatsApp. They answered all of our questions and requests promptly, and were very personable/friendly. My issue was that we booked this hotel because there was promo going on- additional discount for booking directly through their website, since we were visiting after the end of the high travel season. Although we made the reservation online, it never charged my card- there was no option. When we were checking in and we were presented with the bill, the discount was not applied. I tried to explain/ask about the discount but with no wifi to pull up their website (since we were not officially checked in as guests yet) and the language barrier (no wifi so no Google Translate available), I was not able to get it across and we were never got the...
Read moreThis is ONLY a review of the beach club, we were not guests of the hotel, we just spent the day on their beach.
We wanted to visit the beach in Tulum ,but there are so many private clubs with minimum "spends", where you can use their beach but you have to spend $100+ on food and drinks for the privilege. We happened to be on a tour when we ran into a couple who told us about the beach club at Delek, and that there was no minimum.
We had the most wonderful day. We arrived just before 12 noon, and the place was practically empty. We had our choice of chairs, other than the canopied ones on the left, which are reserved for guests. They didn't have umbrellas to offer, so we chose seats under a palm tree, which worked just fine. A staff person brought us out a couple of towels ($100 mxn if you reserve, $155 mxn if you don't) and we claimed our spot for(most) of the day.
We walked in knowing that we'd pay a lot for our food and drink, but did so with the knowledge that the beach day was included, so we were fine with it. Our lunch was actually a little less than I even expected, about $700 pesos (around $40 usd).
The vibe was super chilled. There was no music for most of the day, although you could hear just enough of the music from the club next door, and once the music started, it was just soft vibey music, not blaring DJ music. There were a few families, but mostly it was a mixed demographic, skewing 25-40 (we are older than that).
The beach was clean, as was the water, and the pool was very refreshing and a great place to hang out and cool off.
While there were a few pretentious wannabe Instagram influencers (and their manbunned, heavily bearded, too-cool boyfriends), who can't seem to stop taking pictures of themselves long enough to enjoy the beauty of their surroundings, most of the people were just there to have a nice day at the beach. Oops. Too much editorial.
Anyway...The staff and service were great, as was the vibe, as was the food. I appreciated that I wasn't forced to spend a certain amount of money. At the end of the day, the tab came to about $1100 mxn ($65 usd), and I was happy to hand our server a $100 bill for the great day we had. I'll decide if your club is worth $100. Don't...
