Went here earlier today and have to say that this place is overrated and nothing special. I would score it lower if I could.

Not to mention, everything takes much longer than worth waiting for. We had been waiting for hot tea for over 20 minutes. I told them if it wasn't ready yet, that I'd like it cancelled. The man I dealt with said he'd check. He never came back (should've returned to update us) so we made our way to leave.

When I saw him downstairs, all he did was give us a half-hearted apology, excuses about why it was so late, how it was busy and all that jazz, as if they're the only restaurant that has had to struggle being busy. Look, If you're incredibly busy and are struggling to get orders out in a reasonable time, it takes nothing to be able to say to your customers "We would just like to let you know that it's very busy right now and while we're happy to take your order, it might take around 20 minutes (or whatever time). Is that alright with you?" At least then, we'd know what to expect and can either choose to stay or leave.

It's exactly what our "busy" restaurant last night did, as well as all the decent yet much busier ones I've been to.

Most people come for a day trip and don't want to spend a total of almost an hour and a half to both have their meal and some tea at the end.

To top it all off, we couldn't even settle the bill quick because they didn't correct it when they told us what we originally ordered was out. So I had to list it out myself while he just waited expectantly. He just definitely did not care. One of the most unprofessional servers I've ever dealt with. We paid our bill, we left. He had nothing to say.

Felt sorry for the rest of the customers filtering in because of the reviews. I sincerely hope they give them a heads up too. They were already seriously backed up on orders and yet kept taking more people in.

Skip it and spend it on another local spot that both needs and deserves...

1 star – Disappointing and not worth the price

We visited Cafe Clock hoping for a special and tasty meal, but it turned out to be one of the most disappointing food experiences we had in Morocco.

Falafel Super Bowl (€8) This dish came with just 4 very small falafel, dry, reheated, and with little to no flavor. The hummus tasted like plain mashed chickpeas — no olive oil, no spices, no tahini. The side salad was just raw cabbage and carrot, completely dry and without any dressing. The menu said it came with yogurt sauce, but there was only a small line of it, barely noticeable. Overall, the dish felt poorly prepared and lacking in care.

Camel Burger (€11) The camel meat was just okay — nothing special. It was served with fries and the same cabbage-carrot mix, again dry and without any dressing. The bland side salad really took away from the overall dish.

Grilled Chicken Sandwich (€9) The menu described this as a marinated grilled chicken sandwich, but it was just a plain grilled chicken breast served in bread. Not fried, not seasoned in any special way — just basic and unremarkable for the price.

In summary:

The food looks better on the menu than it tastes on the plate. Everything felt bland, dry, and overpriced. Morocco has amazing food — sadly, you won’t...

Absolutely stunning food, I was texting all my friends and family in great detail about my pastilla and it’s ingredients which is something I would never do (it’s a bit much lol) but it was honestly so good I had to tell everyone. I had the vegan pastilla which was just divine, my tastebuds were in heaven. The filo pastry was flaky and perfectly cooked and there was a real satisfying crunch when I cut into it. It was served on a bed of fresh green pesto and topped with some sort of spicy tomato tapenade with (preserved? blanched?) lemon peel slices. At first I was reluctant to eat the lemon because I’m British and I’ve never really seen lemon peel served as anything other than a garnish but how wrong I was. The lemon was a perfect complement to the spices and flavour profile of the dish and honestly the whole thing just blew me away. Beautiful decor, atmosphere and I’m a bit guilty in admitting I really enjoyed the fact they were playing western music (I think they were playing After Hours album by the Weeknd haha). I visited the Cafe Clock in Fes after having a positive experience here and had an amazing meal there too. They also have a cookery school so when I visit Marrakesh next year I might go and do a day of cooking there as they have a cafe in...

What to do in the “Blue City”⬇️ (Save for later) Chefchaouen, often referred to as the “Blue City,” is a picturesque town in northern Morocco known for its distinctive blue-painted buildings and stunning mountain landscapes. -Wander around the blue streets. You can wander for hours through these blue alleyways. It was my favorite Medina in all of Morocco. The entire town is “Instagrammable” -Watch the sunset from Bouzafer Mosque on the hill. -Take a day trip to Akchour. Here you can hike to the God’s Bridge and/or multiple stunning waterfalls. It’s a 45 minute taxi ride. -I stayed at Dar Dadicilef Hostel and loved it. It’s very quiet, with a stunning garden, delicious free breakfast every morning, and the sweetest owner. His English isn’t great, but if you speak a little Arabic, French, or Spanish you’ll hit it off beautifully. -My favorite restaurants were Casa Aladin, Cafe Clock, Mandala, & Restaurant El Wiam. Getting here from Tangier and/or Fez is very simple using the bus system. I recommend you use CTM or Supratours. You can purchase tickets online, but I purchased them at the ticket window about 15 minutes before departure.
