All the good reviews are just people who want to have enjoyed it. This is not a good place at all... Cramped, none of the staff speak anything apart from Arabic, there is no menu, you just sit down to music screaming from a tiny cheap speaker and wait over an hour for whatever they want to give you. After French, English, Italian, and German failed, we finally communicated that we would like no meat in our meal. Over an hour later, we are served the same thing as everyone else, cous cous with chicken lumped in the middle still on the bone. Again we asked and the old woman seemed angry that we don't eat chicken and began just removing the chicken with her hands before reserving us.
The three of us rate the actual taste of the couscous 2/10, 2/10, 3/10. The cous cous has just the taste of cous cous (nothing special) and the vegetables on top are really plain. We have no idea what all the good reviews are about, maybe people just want to cosplay Moroccan.
We went to pay the bill, expecting 100 dirhams (10 euros) would be a bit expensive but whatever, that's the tourist tax. No. They wanted 100 dirhams PER PERSON and absolutely would not budge on the price. We wouldn't have paid 5 euros for the whole portion in Western Europe, so 30 euros here is abusive and extortionate. We can't believe the good reviews, it is simply not good food, service, value,...
Read moreAn authentic experience! Many restaurants claim to serve traditional, homemade couscous but this is the place to visit if you want the real thing.
It's a small, basic "restaurant", run by two women. We arrived, I said hello and made the eating sign with my hands, the older woman asked me if I wanted to eat couscous in French (that's the extent of my french). She offered us a seat and went to go make it.
She didn't ask which couscous we wanted. I guess they cook what they have (and they cook it well)
Tea and bottled water was provided by the other lady.
When the couscous arrived we were not disappointed. We were served a large portion of chicken and vegetable couscous that was filled with flavour. At the end we were given some almond treats/biscuits as a dessert.
Overall Naima provides an amazing, authentic, no rush/no fuss experience.
We were charged 100MAD person. A very reasonable price for the amount of...
Read moreWe sought this place out after reading a Lonely Planet recommendation and several reviews. You really would walk straight past if you didn’t know it was there.
It’s was a welcoming, simple place with a warm friendly smile from the lady who cooks and serves, she beckoned us to a table and brought mint tea shortly after.
We were aware that there is no menu so we sat and waited for the dish to be brought out. The food, a large bowl of chicken couscous more than lived up to expectations, it was delicious and more than enough for the two of us. Our glasses were filled with mint tea a few more times and we received a small Moroccan pastry to finish.
We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and the hospitality, I felt 100 Dirhams each was very fair for what we received and for the experience, I would certainly go again and recommend Naima for a simple, tasty meal and out of the...
