Shtatto — Restaurant in Marrakesh Prefecture

This is such a great place that my wife and I came back to it a second time during our holiday in Marrakech.

I would have happily given it 5 stars, however we had a very disappointing experience the second time. You hear of scams with credit card machines in Marrakech but we didn't expect it to happen here.

The (presumed) owner wasn't there at the time and we had the younger member of staff who was absolutely fine until we wanted to pay. The payment appeared to have all gone through (I can't really read French very well) until it said something and the staff member said it hadn't gone through; could we pay cash. I hadn't received a message from my bank so I assumed he was right, however my wife - whose French is rather good - saw that all it said was: please insert more paper. The staff member said that's not what it says, it says it's not working and sometimes it does this. My phone pinged and I saw that I had indeed paid. Perhaps it was all an accident, but that doesn't really explain why the member of staff wouldn't read what the machine says - we very nearly paid twice.

The bar itself is great, the view is wonderful, the music is cool and the food well priced and tasty. I hope that, accident or not, these issues can be cleared up so that people can enjoy Shtatto...

Sorry for being mean but the bearded guy who "apparently" takes care of everything is unbelievable and doesn't belong to that beautiful spot. He made me and my friend sit in a place and we were very uncomfortable. We changed our position to another seat and he instantly came with an angry face telling us that we're not allowed to sit there, it's only for 6 members. I told him nicely that we were very uncomfortable in the other place, and there is still plenty of room in here for more than 6 people, but he kept talking nonsense and made us go back to where we were at first. I like the spot but this bearded dude will definitely be a turn off if you are Moroccan. My advice is: visit the spot but make sure YOU choose where you sit. DON'T MOVE TO SOMEWHERE ELSE IF HE ASKS YOU TO. YOU ARE PAYING MONEY TO BE COMFORTABLE AND HAVE A GOOD TIME AND DON'T LISTEN TO...

shtatto is no ordinary restaurant/rooftop. it goes far beyond that as to feel like home. The service, the people, the music, the food, the vibrations...it does have it all. it is my go-to place in jamaa el fna. i go there on my own to work or with friends to chill & have a good time. i have always proudly showed it to my foreigner friends who come visit and they leave unanimously satisfied and filled with memories. I highly recommend shtatto for anyone anytime. I would also like to praise shtatto's manager soufiane who creates meaningful relationships with all guests. he treats them with respect and kindness while always creating a positive humorous atmosphere. i spoke a lot...just go there and see...
