Chunghua Restaurant — Restaurant in Kathmandu Metropolitan City

Found this restaurant near our Guest House and wanted to give it a try. We were craving Chinese food for dinner.

First impression of this place is that it is not to noticeable from the main road. It is at the back of the hallway and up the stairs. The restaurant itself is very traditional, clean and decorative.

The food we ordered was Mapo tofu (veg) and fried mushrooms. My girlfriend and I were quite impressed. The flavour was not to salty and oily like most places and it was quite authentic coming from my girlfriend who is Chinese.

Definitely coming back here and recommend this restaurant to anyone in the Thamel area if you are looking for some...

The image of the location looks different than what I saw. Although, I saw here and there. Maybe, they have an upper floor. Anyways, I was pleasantly surprised of their pork noodle soup that my friend had. It was very chinese and I've always wished for authentic Chinese food in nepal. I guess it was Sichuan based outlet? And also another amazing finding was the egg tart. The crust could be better but I very much appreciated thay cos you get those sweet cravings of decades ago and its just nostalgic...

The ambience is similar to most Chinese restaurants in Kathmandu, red accents of Chinese paintings, handwork and intricate calligraphy decorations doting the walls. A makeover for the dated seating area would really help to add vibrancy to this place. I was overwhelmed with the thick booklet menu at first but so thankful that it had photos of the final dish that made it easier to choose.
