Couple days ago while I was going through Mandala Street, and I saw some foreigners eating their steaks at New Orleans,. I thought they were having a good time enjoying their food. So I thought of going there someday. And that day was Friday 22nd March 2019 @5 pm. Today New Orleans was the lucky restaurant to get my hard earned money. Me and my sis. We took our seats, my sis ordered a vanilla milkshake and we both ordered our steak sizzler. The vanilla milkshake came and my sis tried it, she said that some was wrong with the shake. So I took a sip and damn that was a watered down shake, not a milk shake, no hint of vanilla. WTF, I wondered that a famous restaurant as this with its chefs, cooks and bartender would at least know how to not f up a shake. I told my sis I hope they don't f up my steak. There was some background music of kids crying and making noise. The steak sizzler came, it was plenty of food. So I chomped on it, there was no noodles in the sizzler. That's the first time and was served with this pita bread I guess. The gravy had a little more sodium than usual, but hey when u go to an expensive restaurant where u pay tax and vat, I make sure I eat all my money's worth. I guess it just wasn't my day. After we finished, we didn't want to take no more expensive risks so we went to pay. My sis asked the cashier, our waiter 'don't u serve sizzlers with noodles' . He replied digging his ears which he served us with and said, ' We serve it with potatoes.' I was dumbfounded, does he even know what kind of food is served there or does he only know dalbhat. I took a leak and left the place. Wow, I had imagined the place with so high expectations but that's what I get when we expect too much, lesson for the day. Maybe 1 day I'll have some more extra money to burn, and I'll go there and order a cold beer. Now I know that they cannot f up that. Thank you New...
Read moreWent there on Christmas Day with my significant other as I knew it was a good place to hangout along with yummy foods. The cafe was somewhat busy. We did manage to get a table and had to literally tell servers to get us the menu. Ordered a starter and a mains and waited for the drinking water which came after 30 minutes. The only good experience we had was the live folk music and guess what our food never arrived even waiting for 40 minutes. We informed to one of the server that if the food is not coming to our table in the next 5 minutes than we are leaving. They actually didn't care about that and we had to walk out of the Cafe on empty stomach.
We could see there were enough staffs around but nobody really bothered to step up to resolve our issue. We also saw kitchen staffs coming outside and taking the pictures of the live band. This could have been because we are locals and not tourists as they probably treating their guests based on the skin color or maybe they have mindset of not dealing to the local guests based on the tip amont they get.
Finally, it is so pathetic to experience such kind of issues in this cafe. Having a popular name in the market automatically does not allow you to mistreat your guests. You guys really need to take a lesson on guests service and change...
