5/5 Stars

I had the absolute pleasure of staying at the Katmandu Guest House in Nepal, and I must say, it was an unforgettable experience! From the moment I arrived, I was greeted with warm hospitality that made me feel right at home.

Hospitality: 5/5

The staff at Katmandu Guest House were incredibly friendly and welcoming. They went above and beyond to ensure that my stay was comfortable and enjoyable. From helping me with my luggage to providing recommendations for local attractions, they were always available to assist.

Garden: 5/5

The garden at Katmandu Guest House was a tranquil oasis in the heart of the city. Beautifully maintained and meticulously manicured, it was the perfect spot to relax and unwind after a long day of exploring. The garden was also a great place to meet fellow travelers and share stories of our adventures.

Dining: 5/5

The open-air dining area was a highlight of my stay. Gathering around the burning fire, sharing meals and stories with fellow travelers, was a truly magical experience. The food was delicious, and the staff were always happy to accommodate special requests.

Amenities: 5/5

I was impressed by the attention to detail when it came to the amenities provided. The room was stocked with an array of toiletries, including:

Body scrubber Toothbrush Razors Shower cap Earbuds Hair comb

It was clear that the staff had thought of everything to make my stay as comfortable and convenient as possible.

Overall: 5/5

I would highly recommend Katmandu Guest House to anyone traveling to Nepal. The combination of warm hospitality, beautiful gardens, and thoughtful amenities made for a truly unforgettable experience. I would definitely stay here again and would not hesitate to recommend it to friends and family.

Tips for Future Guests:

Be sure to take advantage of the beautiful garden and outdoor dining area. Don't hesitate to ask the staff for recommendations or assistance – they are always happy to help. Take a moment to appreciate the thoughtful amenities provided – it's clear that the staff have put a lot of thought into making your...

Was not allowed to enter the parking area, even though the room was booked and there was confirmation of the room for the stay at 13th May. Thinking that I had proper conversation with Sanjeev ji ( I arrived at the front gate at 10:45 PM) and was instructed to park my car at backside of the hotel. Sanjeev Ji, tried to convey my request to open gates to car parking area and stay at KGH and he was really helpful, kind and concerned about the situation. I patiently waited for 20 minutes. Then I called the reception of the hotel and had a conversation with Mohan Ji. He said someone is coming to open the gates. I waited for anothe than half n hour/ 45 minutes just to park my park car. In the hotel where i supposed to have booked room. Hehe, are you serious? lol. The guards at the back door near to Nabil ATM exhibited egoistic, rude, unthankful and non welcoming behaviors towards me, even when I was saying my room is booked and I had a conversatyion with Sanjeev ji.

I feel so, sorry for the owners, shareholders, top level management for loosing business as I myself own and run four different prominent companies. The most important things KGH lost is : " TRUST, ACCOUNTABILITY & BRAND IMAGE. I hope Mr. Karna Shakya Sir, personally looks after this issue and execute proper training to educate the frontline staffs , with whom we customers have who first contact. I think every guest might visit KGH in Range Rover, Mercedes, Prado, Pajero or any other luxury vehicles which creates perception among the staffs that other customers are not important and are not welcome

Please take care of your business, staff, every human directly and indirectly related to KG in this hard and sad time. Bhagwan Pashupatinath le hami sabai ko rakhsya...

Kathmandu Guest House is a charming hotel located in the heart of Kathmandu, Nepal. It is close to many popular tourist attractions, including Kathmandu Durbar Square, Swayambhunath Stupa, and Boudhanath Stupa. The hotel offers a variety of amenities, including a restaurant, bar, garden, and terrace.

The rooms here are spacious and comfortable. They are decorated in a traditional Nepali style, with wooden furniture and colourful fabrics. All rooms have private bathrooms with hot water showers. KGH has a restaurant that serves a variety of Nepali and international cuisines. The breakfast buffet is particularly popular, and it features a wide variety of dishes to choose from. The hotel also has a bar. KGH offers a variety of amenities, including a garden, terrace, and free Wi-Fi. The garden is a great place to relax and enjoy the sunshine.

I recently had the opportunity to stay at KGH, and I was very impressed. The hotel is charming and atmospheric, with its traditional Nepali décor and friendly staff. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, and the food is delicious.

I was particularly impressed with the hotel's location. It is in the heart of Kathmandu, close to all of the major tourist attractions. I was able to walk to everything, which saved me a lot of time and money.

I would highly recommend KGH to anyone looking for a charming and affordable hotel in Kathmandu. The hotel is in a great location, offers a variety of amenities, and has a friendly and...

Charming, Instagrammable Stay in the Heart of Thamel I stayed at Kathmandu Guest House for just one night, but it left a great impression. Nestled right in the heart of Thamel, it’s surrounded by cafes, clubs, shopping spots, and currency exchanges — perfect for tourists looking to explore on foot. The hotel itself is beautiful and full of character. From lush gardens to cozy corners, it’s a photographer’s paradise — super Instagrammable! They even have a museum, souvenir shops, and a tea tasting corner, which was such a lovely touch. I stayed in an Executive Suite, which was spacious, comfortable, and worth the higher price for a short stay. I noticed that the more budget-friendly rooms felt a bit too small and cramped, so I’d definitely recommend going for the higher category if comfort matters to you. The breakfast was okay — I had higher expectations, but it was decent for a one-night stay. The staff were helpful and check-in was smooth. The garden areas and outdoor seating really make it a great place to relax. My room didn’t have a great view, but honestly, the hotel itself is a destination — I’d love to stay 2–3 days next time just to explore more of it. Overall, a lovely and peaceful escape in the middle of the buzz of Thamel. Would definitely recommend it for those who want both charm and convenience!

Eating only. Streaky so far: quality of green tea and service is superb, Indian meal bland and spiceless. My two radically different dishes tasted alike due to spiceless prep. At a minimum the waiters should be instructed to ASK how you want your food prepared. I'm sure this is on the staff as there are lots of Indian guest's here and I'm certain their food is not prepared like mine. There's something wrong with the WiFi here, enough so I wouldn't get a room here if the service is like the garden. Photos wouldn't upload to FB, etc. This perhaps the nicest and quietest garden restaurant setting in Kathmandu due to the setback and the age of the property. Genteel and not pretentious. The garden at the Yak and Yeti overpowers anyone sitting in it with the hotel looming over you and it doesn't get the sun the way the KGH does, again due to the age of the KGH property and space available. I've been coming to the KGH for almost 35 years. Tea in the garden is better today than evvahhh especially if you're with a special someone. Otherwise it's a 3 * by me.
