If you're looking for some of the best momos in Kathmandu, then you need to head over to Narayan Dai Ko Famous Momo. Located in the busy street of Chabahil, this small momo stall has earned a reputation as one of the city's most popular spots for this Nepali specialty.
The momos at Narayan Dai Ko Famous Momo are made fresh to order, with a variety of fillings to choose from, including chicken, vegetable, and buffalo. The dumplings themselves are perfectly steamed and have just the right amount of chewiness. The fillings are well-seasoned and bursting with flavor, making each bite a delicious experience.
But what really sets Narayan Dai Ko Famous Momo apart is their dipping sauce. Made with a secret blend of spices, this sauce is the perfect complement to the momos, adding a fiery kick of flavor that will have you coming back for more. Be warned though, the sauce is seriously spicy, so make sure you have a cold drink on hand to help cool your mouth down!
The stall itself is small and basic, with just a few plastic chairs and tables set up on the sidewalk. But what it lacks in ambiance, it more than makes up for in flavor. The service is friendly and efficient, and the prices are very reasonable.
Overall, if you're a fan of momos, then you owe it to yourself to try Narayan Dai Ko Famous Momo. It's a no-frills establishment that serves up some seriously delicious dumplings, and it's a must-visit spot for anyone looking to experience the authentic flavors of Kathmandu. Just be sure to bring your appetite, and your...
Read moreOn a casual visit to the Basantapur area, a sudden craving for some classic Nepali snacks led me to Narayan Dai ko Masangalli ko Famous Momo in Jhochhen. Having already tried their other branch, I was curious to see how this outlet measured up.
We went for the Buff Momo, Cheese Veg Momo, and my all-time favorite – Buff Choela. The seating was a bit cramped, but with three floors to choose from, we were able to find a spot on the top floor without much hassle.
Soon enough, the food arrived. The Buff Choela was the undeniable star of the meal – rich in flavor, wonderfully spiced, and consistent with what I’d tasted previously. That said, it does come with a warning: not for the faint of heart or sensitive stomachs – it packs some serious heat.
The Cheese Veg Momo was satisfying – a good vegetarian option. The Buff Momo was disappointing, it was slightly undercooked. I must admit the other branch still has the edge on flavor and taste. Perhaps it was just an off day.

Read moreCame here with high hopes, planning to end our day with their hyped momo….. but it turned out to be a huge regret. The experience was very very poor.
We reached around 9:30 PM and the place was almost empty with just three people inside counter. Even though it’s self-service, there was no guidance for first-timers like us. They just rang a bell and rudely placed the momo plate on the counter, then continued playing Ludo, completely ignoring the customers.
The hygiene was awful. The jhol was kept uncovered and at the bottom of a dirty pot, and the momo achar tasted stale. We had to take our own spoons from a random corner.
Now the food — the momo was undercooked, the texture felt raw, and it upset my stomach really badly. It honestly ruined our night. And for that kind of quality, the price is way too high. The hype and the reality of this place are poles apart.
Definitely our first and last time visiting. I can’t recommend this place to anyone. Sorry, but it was truly a...
