Bar Bario — Restaurant in Amsterdam

I would like to leave a review in response to Nofar Efraim (the person who left a review accusing Bario of racism and antisemitism). As a Jewish woman myself, I never ever experienced antisemitism at Bar Bario, this sort of behaviour goes against everything this establishment stands for. This is one of the most inclusive bars I’ve ever been to. The atmosphere is amazing and the prices are totally fair—especially considering the high-quality products. I am assuming that Nofar felt intimidated by Bario’s support for the Palestinian struggle, something that unfortunately, many people wrongfully view as antisemitic behaviour. However, this couldn’t be further from the truth, and again, as a Jewish woman who stands with Palestine (and is proud of her Jewish heritage), I am debunking this absurd accusation and hope that such a review won’t stop anyone (Jewish or not) from visiting Bar Bario and miss out on a great experience. Wow, what a shame! I’ve been looking forward to checking out Bario for a while and last night a bunch of friends and I finally went there. The place itself seems really nice but unfortunately the experience was completely ruined by the grumpy and very disrespectful bartenders (mainly the black-haired, short girl) We eventually got to speak to other customers at the bar and found out that more people were having the same experience as us. It is unacceptable to work in gastronomy (a job you chose to have yourself) and without any shame show so openly that you are annoyed by your paying customers. When i go to a bar/restaurant i see the staff as the face and representation of the business and if im welcomed with such attitude, it affects my whole opinion. I would love to give it another try but i really don’t want to be treated in such way again, so that was it for me...

I’m not even kidding this is top 3 bars I’ve been to in the world. First of all, the staff there are extremely kind, welcoming, and warm. Sofia at the bar is soooo sweet & cool and makes INCREDIBLE drinks!!

Secondly, the Trini food they have is to die for! No joke it’s loaded with flavor, it’s comforting in Amsterdam’s rainy and cold climate, and it makes you feel so full and joyful afterwards! Get the stew chicken; you will not regret it at all.
