Update: Thank you for your reply to my review and for your apology. I appreciate that you took the time to respond. However, I must be honest. I left your restaurant with the impression that this type of situation was not being taken seriously. The waitress who served me the pizza and took my payment apologized for the situation even before I explained what happened or how I felt. Which makes it clear she was aware of this man’s behavior while it was happening. Yet no one intervened to support me or to ensure that I could enjoy my dinner in peace. For me, the most upsetting part of this experience was not only the harassment itself, but also the lack of action from the staff once it was evident that I was uncomfortable. This left me feeling unsafe and unsupported as a guest. I hope you will reflect on this and take measures to ensure that your staff is prepared and willing to step in immediately if a customer is being harassed. This would make a meaningful difference in protecting your guests.
I had a very unpleasant experience at Bar Lusconi last Sunday. I went there alone for dinner, but before my pizza even arrived, a man sat down next to me with a drink. His clothing had the same colors as the restaurant’s uniform, so I assumed he worked there. I asked him politely to leave me alone, but he refused. I had to insist several times, and when my pizza was served, I even looked at the waitress hoping she would intervene, but she did nothing.
The man continued to bother me despite me raising my voice and telling him clearly that I wanted to eat alone. After some time, he finally left, but by then I had lost my appetite. I ate only a couple of slices, asked for the rest to go, and requested the bill.
When paying, the waitress apologized and claimed the man does not work there, saying he was just someone who comes often and that they always have to ask him to leave. However, I had seen him hugging another waitress earlier, and she did not seem uncomfortable with it. This made me feel like I was being lied to.
Overall, it was an extremely uncomfortable and upsetting experience. No staff member intervened when I was clearly being harassed, and instead, I felt completely unsupported. Because of this, I will not be returning to...
Read moreThe service was poor even by Amsterdam standards. There's no one welcoming guests at the entrance. A waitress who was having her own dinner finally saw me and gave me a table. Then, I was forgotten for 10-15 minutes until the guy behind the bar noticed me and came to take my order.
I ordered a foccaccia for a starter. What I got was tasty, but I don't think it can be called a foccaccia. It was more like pizza bread.
At some point a random homeless person entered the place (a consequence of having no staff at the entrance) and made a quick tour through people's tables shouting things and left on his own... The staff did call the police.
The main course arrived, the meat was very tasty but overall the dish was poor. It was supposed to have polenta, but it had some fried square cubes of some sort. It was basically just meat. I had asked for a second beer, but they never brought it.
I waited for 10 minutes after asking for the bill, in the end I went to pay at the counter. The service was just hopeless. They were at least all very polite (I had in the end 4-5 different staff tend to my table instead of just one dedicated waiter as you would normally have, so it seems like an inefficient system).
Finally the website menu was different, it said they have ossobuco (the reason I visited) and risotto, which unfortunately I did not find at...
Read moreNice location in the middle of the Mercatorplein on the upcoming Amsterdam West. The guests are mostly locals and the cafe' is perfect for pretty much any occasions: you may have cocktail/wine in the evening with your partner; nice Brekky in the morning with good coffee and food for lunch is not that bad either! I would recommend to pay a visit in the weekend when it is a bit busier and gives a more local experience or at night in the winter around the fire which stands in the middle of the venue. Good place to catch up ;)
The staff is mostly Dutch and friendly, the food is standard and nothing special. We went a couple of times and we got some wine and gin & tonic around the fire in the winter. it was super cozy.
i would not recommend to stop for a takeaway during the winter as it would take long to get it. It gets quite packed.
alternatively you may also have a drink outside when the weather is nice and warmer :)
i find it one of the coziest places to go out in the middle of the week around that area and i would recommend it to consider it for a...
