I'd had this place shortlisted as a must visit for over a year, and maybe it's because the anticipation had set my expectations too high, but it was an incredible disappointment.

I'll preface this by saying that I've not eaten Nepalese food before but I've eaten a lot of food from that general area in Asia, so I'd a good enough idea of what to expect, flavour-wise.

First of all, I went there to takeaway, given their restaurant listing states that's possible, but I was told that they didn't offer takeaways. Fair enough, I was told to put my name on a waiting list and they'd call me. I figured the food would be worth it and did so, watching and waiting for nearly an hour later as other people with seemingly no reservation were let in ahead of me.

But that is speculation. What isn't is the food. When we were finally invited in, we were seated in a cramped corner of the room. Service was prompt but nothing exceptional: the staff weren't particularly friendly, or confident in certain cases. We ended up ordering the steamed chicken momos in the sesame sauce, the pork noodles and lamb kebabs. We wanted to order a plate of momos each and the staff insisted that would be too much.

I don't believe I look particularly small, so I don't know how they came to that conclusion, because I ended up leaving there famished. The portion sizes of the 'mains' (I use that term loosely) were embarrassingly meagre considering how much we were charged. But that wouldn't be that bad if the food was at least delicious.

It was NOT. It was shockingly bland? And in several cases, overcooked? Like I was actually dumbfounded that it had so many good reviews because it was shockingly poor. You'd eat it and there'd be no lingering flavours, nothing. It was bizarre. Coupled with the portions, it really did feel like I wasted €50. Couldn't recommend even if I wanted to. If they're flying the flag for Nepalese food, then I...

Hands down the best place in the Netherlands for Momos and Thupka!

Location: (5/5) Smack in the middle of town a short walking distance from bloemmarket. It is easy to access from most public transport stops and is tucked away in one of the side streets.

Ambience: (5/5) It is a small place, but that is what adds to the charm. It has some lovely photos of the wall that provide a glimpse into the Nepalese culture. The place has a restroom. It has 5 tables inside and a couple tables outside.

Food: (5/5) I wish I could give a 6 here. The food is absolutely on the mark. The fragrance, the colours, the features and the presentation all make it a delight to all the senses. The things not to miss here are the momos, I’m personally leaning towards the fried ones, but they do have multiple options. Feel free to ask for the green chilly paste which will heighten the spice level for those who would like that. The thukpa is divine as well, took the spicier version which isn’t too spicy but is rich in flavour. The pork was cooked to perfection as the crispyness of the edges coupled with the tenderness of the Center make it a delight to the taste buds. The broth is so full of flavour it makes your brain tingle and of course the portion sizes are great.

Service: (5/5) Love the service here, the staff are super friendly and always have a big smile on their faces. They guide you on selection as well. There may be a queue here since it is so good, but trust me, it is totally worth any amount of wait you may have.

Summary: (5/5) I love this place and consider it one of the hidden gems of Amsterdam when it comes to the culinary space. It will be a visit you will thank yourself for making. Will...

Authentic Nepalese cuisine in the heart of Amsterdam.

Order : momo two ways. One steamed and cooked in sauce (chicken) and vegetarian fried with tomato coriander sauce. Bhatti Pasal thalidomide. Khaja set.

Location: Heart of Amsterdam can't miss it. Very busy restaurant. 5/5

Value: Incredible food for an incredible price. Usually restaurants that have long line ups are due to good taste, popularity, or cheap. This has it all. Very good price for what you're getting. 5/5

Service: the people who work here are absolute darlings. Courteous, friendly, impeccable. Just lovely staff. 5/5

Taste: incredible food. Very palatable and aromatic flavors. Appeals to all senses. Just a well organized and simple menu. They are very good at what they do. No wonder why the line up is insane. We got lucky, didn't have to wait too long. May be 15 mins? But others after us had a crazy long line up. This place is bussin. 5/5

Overall: Great restaurant. For the price and taste, can't go wrong. Excellent Service. JUST BE PREPARED TO WAIT. MAKE RESERVATIONS. Though I'm not sure of they take any. I really can't remember what we did. Just know this place is...
