Café Emmelot — Restaurant in Amsterdam

Teeeerrible service. Staff is extremely rude and annoyed with the mere fact that they have to do their job. We felt that the waitresses behaved in a very, very xenophobic and rasist way. I came with a friend. We waited for 15 minutes for the waitress to even look at us - the blonde waitress was having shots with some of her friends at the other side of the bar. Then, finally, after we got the drinks, I asked if I could charge my phone. She was annoyed by the questuion, but allowed it. After we finished our drinks and wanted to leave I went to get my phone (it was at the bar) the other waitress with the long curly hair started yelling at me in Dutch and her rude Dutch friends were laughing and translating what she was saying. Seriously, have drinks and spend your money somewhere else. I have travelled extensively and have never been treated this way anywhere. It's so sad that some people, instead of working on personal issues, opt for taking out their own frustrations and unhappiness on strangers and, even more sad that they think they should be working in hospitality. I hope the two waitresses feel less frustrated and...

After receiving bad service at one bar, we decided to find a new café. Initially, we sat outside but did not receive a menu or have anyone take our order. I went inside to order drinks, and the best thing about the bar was the bartender. Very friendly and helpful.

We received two beers (they only accepted cash), and we asked to be seated inside. I ordered coffee and hot chocolate and asked the waiter if I could pay with a card. She said yes.

A few moments later, a man approached us and asked for €9. At first, I didn't understand why or who this random guy was, but then I realized we needed to pay for the additional drinks. We weren't ready to leave but felt like we were being chased out. Then he said, "I can't accept card payment, cash only." As I don't usually carry cash, he asked me to go to an ATM and withdraw money. So I did.

In my opinion, I would advise against going here if you only have a card (like the majority of the population) or if you want good service. There are many other bars/cafes that are much friendlier and offer...

The woman who works there is an absolute liar and doesn’t like her job.I have waited for my friends to come and they took the chairs that I look out for my friends.Considering that there are people who’s waiting I said okay you can take it at the end.While I was still sitting the woman who works there(blonde) came and said ‘Don’t stare at me’????
