Good, basic, fast, friendly staff in a small and cozy, but bustling place.
I had the "large breakfast" which wasn't that large by my overweight American standards, but ended up being just enough food. Surprise! It consisted of a small and strong coffee, deliciously fresh squeezed orange juice, two pieces of sourdough toast, one fried egg, a few slices of two different kinds of cheese, a croissant, a piece of french toast (with apples somehow cooked into it) and apple compote, a huge chunk of butter and two amazing jams for all those carbs. All presented quite nicely too.
I came out of a meeting in the area shortly before 11am and needed to grub. Fortunately, a quick search for brunch in the Yelp app lead me here. It's a small spot, with a charming air. Not a lot of decor, but it doesn't really need it. The feeling is modern old world (if that actually means anything) and the menu is basic and brief. Just what you need. Apparently reservations are needed or perhaps just recommended. When I arrived there were a couple of open tables and I sat down right away. As I was eating I noticed that as people came in, the staff were checking a written list of what I assumed were reservations. I guess I made it in right before the rush. After eating, on my way out, I noticed a glass cooler stacked with fantastic looking deserts. I wish I had seen it...
Read morei was looking for soup in Amsterdam and came across a comment that said ‘best soup i ever had’. i simply had to try it for myself. we tried to get table probably around 1:30/2 pm on a Wednesday and was told they’re booked for the next couple hours but maybe try back. although they close at 5 p, the kitchen closes at 4 pm. we came back at 3 pm and got a seat. we each ordered their soup of the day, it was a cream of potato soup, with rosemary and truffle oil. oh it was absolutely one of the best soups my fiancé and i had (we definitely didn’t share). there were so many depths of flavours and we’re pretty sure there was fish that added. the only down side, is we just wished it was a bigger bowl. we’ll definitely be coming back to try other brunch items in the menu, i can only imagine how tasty and fresh it is! i even went to ask if they will have other soups in the next week, as i’m eager to try more!
came back the next week and got to try their eggs benefit (fresh farm eggs) with smoked salmon tartare - it was the most delicious, served on a bed of bed of greens. we also tried their croissant w/homemade jam. definitely try it here and be sure to make a reservation for breakfast or lunch! the soup is served starting at 12 pm and really is a...
Read moreWe had mapped out our breakfast destination that morning and made the trek to our first stop only to be told they were expecting more hotel guests and unable to accommodate us (with an empty dining room) deflated, cold and hungry we continued on our journey and found this GEM!!! From the moment you walk in you are greeted warmly and like an old friend. The customer service was exceptional! And couldn’t be faulted, and while they were full the owner advised he would be able to accommodate us if we were happy to wait and within a few moments a table was vacant and we seated. The service didn’t stop there, the menus were given quickly and coffee orders taken promptly. I ordered the pancakes with apricots and cream cheese and my hubby ordered the eggs Benedict. The food was sublime. Honestly the best pancakes, perfectly sweetened and well balanced with the jam and cream cheese. My husbands eggs were perfectly poached with a hollandaise sauce that was too die for. The coffee was excellent and my fresh juice was exactly as you would expect. Full of pulp and flavor. We were so glad we found this gem and appreciated that we were welcomed warmly. Thanks again for a truly...
