Tucked away down a charming side street, Il Viccolo is a hidden gem worth seeking out. The restaurantâs popularity is clear from the lively crowd both inside and out, so you may need to wait a bit for a table, but the experience is more than worth it.
It was very busy when we came and we sat outside so as to not wait for a seat inside-- this was fine as it was a warm evening but i dont believe they have heaters if it was a bit colder.
The all Italian staff bring a warmth and enthusiasm that adds to the experience. Special mention to our waiter, Lorenzo, whose friendliness made our visit particularly pleasant.
As a starter we had the focaccia basket which was really wonderful.
The menu, written on a small chalk slate, adds a rustic charm but could use a bit of clarity for vegetarians; clearly labeled vegetarian options would be helpful. However, the food itself is a delight. Prices are on the higher side, but the quality shines through. The pasta, cooked perfectly al dente, is a standout â fresh, flavorful, and authentically Italian.
We ended our meal with the Tiramisu, which we certainly recommend.
For an authentic Italian experience, Il Viccolo is a wonderful choice, combining excellent food, great service, and a pleasant setting in the heart...
Read moreWhat an incredible dining experience in Amsterdam! The food at Il Vicolo was always served piping hot, beautifully prepared, and bursting with flavor. The service was nothing short of phenomenalâwarm, attentive, and welcoming. And the chefs? Truly fantastico!
We enjoyed dinner at Il Vicolo three times during our stay, and each visit was just as memorable as the last. While we sampled other restaurants throughout the week for both lunch and dinner, nothing compared to the charm and quality of Il Vicoloâitâs a true gem worth savoring.
Start your evening with their delicious bruschetta and a lovely glass of wine, then dive into any of their main coursesâwe tried them all, and each one was outstanding. Teresa, her son, and the entire family bring such heart and hospitality to the restaurant that it feels like more than just a meal; itâs an experience.
Thank you, Il Vicolo, for making our time in Amsterdam so special. Highly...
Read moreThis was the first time Iâve ever been kicked out of a restaurant, and it happened before I even had a chance to order! I went to the restaurant without a reservation, as they donât take bookings (though their voicemail doesnât mention that). I asked a waiter for a table for four and was seated. In reality, there were only two of us, as my friends were on their way and would arrive in about 10 minutes. Just two minutes after we sat down, the manager came over and asked us to leave, stating they don't seat tables unless the full party is present. I explained that my friends would be there soon, but with four other people waiting outside, he didnât care. The waiter should have informed us of this rule, but instead, the manager handled it poorly, making us (the customers!) bear the consequences of their mistake. Hence my rating, as we had a terrible customer experience that no one should expect from a restaurant with such a...
