Koffiehuis 'De Hoek'. — Restaurant in Amsterdam

I recently visited Koffiehuis De Hoek, and it was, hands down, one of the worst experiences I've ever had in any coffee house. From the moment I walked in, I was met with unfriendly, borderline rude staff who seemed more interested in chatting among themselves than serving customers. The atmosphere was anything but cozy—dim lighting, uncomfortable seating, and the place smelled musty, like it hadn’t been cleaned properly in weeks.

When I finally managed to get the attention of a staff member, my order was taken with a dismissive attitude. The coffee was shockingly bad—stale, lukewarm, and bitter, as if it had been sitting in a pot all day. The pastry I ordered was even worse: dry, flavorless, and clearly not fresh. I wouldn’t be surprised if it had been sitting in the display case for days.

To make matters worse, the prices were ridiculously high for the subpar quality of the food and drinks. I left feeling ripped off and disappointed. I cannot understand how this place stays in business. Save yourself the time, money, and frustration—there are plenty of better coffee spots in town. Avoid Koffiehuis De Hoek...

What a dump! You barista working on 19 October 2021 needs a lesson in manners!

I walked in and sat down - table service she told me! I watched 4 staff fumble around as if it was their first day. I then stood up to order as figured that might help them to manage an empty cafe! I was told! Sit down! I told you ! I politely responded - I would like to order and she took another aggressive approach to me! I left the cafe - and will never return!

I went around the corner to a beautiful deli - on Elandsgracht called Flo’s Deli. Gorgeous bagels- and coffee and no Barista coming down after her weekend out at ADE no doubt! Do yourself a favour and avoid the abuse in this...

First the positive things: the goat cheese pancake was really good and the location of the cafe, directly next to canal, is really nice and picturesque. The problem here is definitely the staff. At first one of the waitresses seemed nice but after sitting some time she began to be rude, didn’t answer simple questions, brought the wrong food and even tried to argue with me wether Brie is goat cheese or not (??). The coffee is ok, definitely nothing special.. Edit:

The barista was the worst service ever experienced in Amsterdam! She was so rude, not welcoming, wanted to decide how we pay and many more things that just destroyed the whole morning...
